Not liking the draft info in the espn league:

ESPN made me remove and delete LOUNE’s invite from 3 different places before it would finally remove that slot from the list.
But it appears we may be too late. The stupid ESPN e-mail said the league has to have the full list of owners by draft time, but when I looked a minute ago it said “draft time not set” - and I can’t reschedule for tonight because all of the available slots are used.
Damn it.
Well, our other options are to hold the draft manually over some sort of text chat interface, or maybe we could all join one of the ESPN mock drafts and fill it up and hold our draft not that way, not sure if it’s practical.
There are plenty of 12 man mock auction drafts available. If we can manage to all join one in quick succession and fill it, we can use that as our actual draft. Stay posted to this thread.
Let’s just use that text chat thing again. Do you have a link? I bought a new computer since last year’s draft so I don’t have it installed, or even remember what it was called.

In order to fill this up before random people all join, let’s try to join all at the same time. I’m going to pick 8:37pm to give everyone 10 minutes to prepare. At exactly 8:37pm, if that league is still empty until that time, click join league. That way we’ll take over a mock draft, get the results via e-mail, and import them to yahoo. I’ll post this in the ESPN and yahoo leagues too.
In the event that that draft starts filling up with other people before we go to it, I’ll choose another.

I’m on a laptop at a coffee shop now so I couldn’t use voice to control the auction - let’s see if we can manage to load the 12 of us into a mock auction.
Edit: Also the free version of ventrilo only has 8 user slots available. I can probably crack it, but we’re limited on time.

Are the draft results and updated league settings going to be on Yahoo today?
Am I in? I tried on ESPN to check out my team and such, but it told me the league isn’t up and running yet (obviously) so it wouldn’t let me see.
ESPN is a hassle so far in my estimation.

Ok, here’s a quick rundown of what happened.
As of Monday, everyone had accepted their invite but LOUNE. I PMed him to ask him to accept it or give me a different address, and he said he’d try to do it tomorrow (Tuesday). I only have infrequent internet access out here and I wasn’t able to get to a wifi spot until about 7:55pm eastern. At that point I saw that LOUNE hadn’t accepted, but I thought we were okay because their e-mail said:
What this says to me is that while you can open the draft interface at 8pm, the draft itself wouldn’t run unless the league was in order by 9pm, so I thought I still had time to boot LOUNE and save the draft. But a few minutes after I sat down, ESPN cancelled the draft on us.
This late in the season, all the good draft slots are taken - we’d have to draft on Wednesday at 2pm or something.
So I decided the best way to try to work this was to find one of the 12 man mock drafts and load us all into there and transfer the results to yahoo. Only… the SDMB was on the fritz but this time and I wasn’t sure who was able to get the message, or who was even around.
Eventually we got 11 out of our 12 players into the mock draft and I decided that it was probably the best we were going to be able to arrange before the season started. Whoever got left out in the process I apologize.
The 12th slot in the league was taken by a random ESPN mock auction player, and to try to encourage him to draft sanely and not screw up our draft I offered him a spot in our league with the team he drafted. So now we’re sitting with 12 players and a valid draft.
I may be able to enter the results in tonight, but I may have to leave here in the next 20 minutes, in which case I’ll try to get the results in before the game tomorrow. That might not be possible - if that’s the case, please post here which of your drafted players that’s playing tomorrow will be starting for you, and I will retroactively add them to your week 1 roster once I enter the info.
Sorry for the hassle - things would’ve run more smoothly if I was home and didn’t have sporatic internet access. But in a day or two, everything should be running normally. Sorry to whoever it was that got left out.
How about you email me the access for your account and I’ll get the draft results entered tonight and update the league settings. Waiting until tomorrow-maybe isn’t exactly the best way to go and just creates a massive headache later.
I made you the league commissioner. When you’re done pass it back to me if you want… or don’t… no big deal really.
Getting started now. Do you know which Mock Draft team names associate with which Yahoo team name?
Also, is strange in the Yahoo league yet? Do I need to bump LOUNE and Invite him?
