That was my first live draft in a while, and imagine my surprise that the league grew to 20 teams! I was completely unprepared for the depth of the league, and I didn’t recognize many of the names that came off the list toward the end.
Overall, though I think I did alright. I could have done better, for sure. But my lack of preparation was my own fault, and I hung in there during the 90 odd minute draft. Next year, I plan on paying attention!
So, I had a nice win, meaning I won’t Detroit Lions it this year. That is a good thing.
Good luck, all! The live draft was great, and, as I said, preparing is the key. I was impressed with some people who had 250-300 players ranked. I was in the 50-75 player ballpark, so you can see where I had some trouble.
If Antonio Bryant ends up not playing again this season I will have certainly lost the trade. I had to take a chance though, WR is really thin in this league.
When I said that he might not play again this season, that reflects only an outside, slim chance. He’s not currently “injured,” he’s experiencing swelling in the knee he had surgically repaired in the offseason and he’s missing practices and will probably miss the week 2 game. It’s definitely a big risk to pick him up, but one I felt I had to take if I wanted a shot at the playoffs.
Jammers is dealing again: He gives up Marion Barber and Tashard Choice to Frosted Lightning for Vincent Jackson and Lendale White.
Do you guys want me to fast track this one and approve it now so that you can use those players on this week’s roster? I’m not going to assume that’s what you want because a) trades typically take 2 days and there may have been that expectation here and b) if one of the players involves doesn’t expect it, and therefore doesn’t check his roster before gameday, he may end up starting an empty spot when he expected to start his currently owned player.
If you guys want that trade to be reflected in the current rosters, both post to confirm and then tell me what you changes you’d want in your starting rosters. I say this because I may not end up getting on until 10 minutes before the games start and doing the trade if you both want it, and I can edit your rosters myself to reflect your desires in case you aren’t able to in time.
Crap guys, I’m an idiot. I forgot to actually implement the FAAB waiver system we discussed. I thought I did, until I noticed we were still using a rolling list setting.
I would switch it over now, but people may have already made claims and I don’t want to erase pending claims. So barring objection, after the current waiver period is over, I’ll switch it over to the free agent acquisition budget system. Sorry for the screwup.
It’s probably for the best, it would be kind of weird to switch systems after waiver claims have been made. It would be a huge boost to the guy who already used his #1 waiver claim, and a bit of a screw job to the guy who was saving the #2 slot.
I have this Chad Pennington…
Anyway, riddle me this. Our division has 3 people tied at 2-1. Yahoo ranks the one with a divisional record of 1-0 and 307 points at the top, me with a divisional record of 0-1 and 333 points in the middle, and someone with a divisional record of 1-0 and 267 points at the bottom. If divisional record was the tie breaker, I’d be at the bottom. If points were the tie breaker, I’d be at the top. So what’s the tie breaker?
Court Jesters gives up Derek Anderson to Exploding Pancakes for Chris Henry (CIN).
I’m taking a gamble that I can guess which games Anderson throws for 3 TDs and which ones he throws for 7 ints. Cassel has been dissapointing so far, and I had some receiver depth, so it’s worth a shot.
