SDMB Fantasy Football big league (league full)

Yes, free agents that are part of the Thursday night game are off limits until the weekend. You can still sign free agents from teams who haven’t played yet. I made a more detailed post about it in the league itself.

Btw, I can see Quentin’s Jammers plan of trading me Alex Smith to sabotage me has worked well. Well played, sir.

A reminder that the trade deadline is next Friday, so if you want to get some deals done, do it now.

I’m still in the market for an upgrade at QB. No rush to get it done this week since I already played Alex Smith. But I’m willing to trade one of my QBs (Smith, Cassel) and one of my WRs or RBs (Roddy White, Ochocinco, Royal, Brown, Slaton, Mendenhall) for an upgrade at QB. Obviously the better the player I’m giving up the better QB I’d expect. But throw me offers if you’re interested.

Looking ahead, I have a pretty tough schedule remaining - all my opponents have decent or good projected scores. And I still have a decent lead for leading league scorer. I’m currently in 11th place overall. There’s a decent chance that I’ll end up leading the league in scoring and missing the 8 man playoffs.

Ugh. My remaining schedule is a combined 17-10, the lowest of whom is ranked #6. Two of them outscored me this week (the other has some players left to go). Gotta beat one of them to make it to the playoffs.

It’s looking like I’ll probably miss the playoffs. I still have the highest score, but at least people are catching up and may spare me the aggravation of being top score while missing the playoffs.

I still lead the league by a good margin in points against.

What are the playoff requirements in this league?

Division winners each get a slot and 4 wildcards with the best records (with a score tiebreaker I think) of non-division winners get the other 4 slots.

HAHA! I’M BACK IN THE GAME!

There was some sort of scoring correction. Antonican Druids was leading something like 66.20 to my 64.70. But now it’s saying he has 64.5 to my 64.7, with Derrick Mason left to play. So all I need is for Mason to announce his retirement in the next 4 hours, and I win by .2 points.

Forgot to update this league (wasn’t at the computer Sunday, though I normally try to fill in byes mid-week just to avoid this situation). Not that it matters, I’m dead in the water as is, but 22 points? OUCH!

Okay, we’ve only got like 2 days left to do trades before the deadline hits and I’m really looking for a QB. I’m willing to move significant starters… Slaton, Mendenhall, Brown, Ochocinco, Roddy White… along with one of my QBs, Alex Smith or Matt Cassel. Send proposals to me and I’ll get back to you.

Would anyone support or dislike the idea of extending the trade deadline for a week? I didn’t really think about it when I created the league and left it at the default… but part of the reason the trade deadline is relatively early is to prevent people in public groups from doing goofy shit like trading away their best player for nothing after they’re out of the playoff hunt. I don’t really see a downside to extending it for a week or two, but I’m open to suggestions or commentary.

I wouldn’t be opposed to it. But I don’t think I’m going to do much trading myself. Between injuries, bad trades (I fell for the Frank Gore is DOOMED injury reports hook, line and sinker) and just plain underperformance, my team is running on fumes.

Not opposed but I doubt that there’s much interest in my team. Schaub is my only valuable player.

I don’t really like changing things on the fly. We started the season knowing the trade deadline was coming, I see no reason to extend it.

I support extending the deadline. I can’t see anyone in this league trying that crap.

Note that my objection above is relatively minor. I don’t see it as a huge issue. I would vote against it, but if I get out voted, that’s cool too.

I would vote against as well - I’m not a fan of changing things up mid-stream. Plus, our playoffs start a week earlier, so it’s a wash.

I normally don’t like changing things in mid-stream either, but I’m not sure if anyone made decisions based on when the trade deadline would be, so I’m not sure who would lose anything by extending it. Not a big deal, it’s just that I let it sneak up on me… I just realized now that I’m almost out of time. I’m sending out a lot of offers today, but I suspect people don’t check the league regularly and a lot of them will go unnoticed.

I sent out a bunch of offers today. If you’re interested, get back to me soon, since I’m not sure when exactly on Friday the trade deadline closes so we don’t have much time. I will be goign to sleep soon though, so if you don’t hear anything back that’ll be why. I’ll respond later today.

I sent SenorBeef an offer, but if that falls though, I need a running back that doesn’t have a potentially career ending concussion. I have several receivers available, might be willing to part with Matt Ryan for a good RB. Farve is off the table…he’s my starter barring injury or extreme suckage.

Well I found an offer I liked.

Exploding Pancakes gives up
Alex Smith
Eddie Royal
Devery Henderson

Master Baiters gives up
Jay Cutler
Malcolm Floyd

He gets 2 upgrades at receiver (he can/probably should start both players) and I get an upgrade at QB. Hopefully that upgrade doesn’t throw 5 ints every week.

I think it’s a great trade…for Master Baiters. Not so much for Exploding Pancakes. Really don’t think Cutler is worth 2 decent/good receivers, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
