I can understand not being enthusiastic this year, I’m in the same boat. But it’ll get better. I appreciate that you’re playing, but I hope you’ll be playing not just to keep the league balanced but because this league is still healthy and can keep going for a long time. I’m definitely invested in this league above all the others.
Same thing to Overly Sentimental - hang in there, it’s a funky year for everything, but we should be getting back to normal next year.
Anyway, everyone is checked in except RNATB. I just sent him another e-mail. He’s on the boards, was just logged in earlier today, so I’m not sure why he’s not posting in this thread. He’s been around from the start, and has never been shy about communicating, so I don’t think he intends to quit - I think he’d have told us if that was the case instead of just leaving us hanging - but it’s a bit strange that I can’t seem to get his attention.
Jules proposed that our final roster cuts be noon this Sunday and that sounds reasonable. I think it’s fine if we go ahead and proceed with that. Hopefully RNATB will be here by then.
All- I’d like to acquire a high draft pick, in the first half of round 1. Please approach me with offers. Currently all I have is the number 2 pick in round 2, and then 2 supplementary picks at the end.
Alright, so we’re going to start the draft in about 24 hours. RNATB hasn’t checked in yet. He’s been on the boards recently, I sent him two PMs and two e-mails, but no response. It seems unlikely to me that he wouldn’t tell us if he intended to quit, but we’re running out of time for him to show up. Jules has an off-board friend that has been interested in joining our league and sounds like a good candidate, but obviously I prefer stability over everything.
Does anyone have any way to contact RNATB to get his attention?
I’ve never heard of recency bias, but I just read an article that Darrel Williams has established himself as the primary backup to CEH in KC. So I’m not going to cut him after all. But, since I want at least two draft picks, I will cut Jamaal Williams now that the Packers drafted AJ Dillon.

Another question: Do we need to send PMs, or are mentions enough?
For example, on the one hand I could send Omni a PM saying he’s on the clock and then post here in the thread “PM sent.”
Or, I could just say @Omniscient is on the clock in one single step. From Omni’s (or whoever is on the clock) perspective, are they both essentially the same thing? (They both add little colored dots to your icon in the upper right.) Because I would for sure prefer doing mentions as it’s way less work.
That is a good point. That should work similarly. Maybe PMs send e-mails and mentions don’t, but people should be aware enough that a mention works. Let’s just use mentions if you guys prefer (you can send a PM if you want) and see if that keeps it on track.
But remember to keep an eye out on PMs for trade offers.
Confirming the answer to my own question, Beef’s reply appeared all by itself without me refreshing the page. That will be a nice feature for this in-thread draft if (when?) we get a bunch of us online to blast through a bunch of picks at once.
Sorry for the delay. It took me like 45 minutes of trying to move Josh Gordon to the cut list. My hand wouldn’t obey me. This is a very sad day, friends.
What’s weird is that I couldn’t find any news. He filed for reinstatement on June 12, expected to hear back within 30 days, the rule apparently says Goodell has to reply within 60 days, but we still haven’t heard anything. I could not find any sources indicating why he hasn’t heard back about reinstatement yet, but it was hard to talk myself into keeping him yet again when it’s not even clear he’ll ever be reinstated by the NFL. I almost kept him despite this, because if he manages to get reinstated, get his shit together, and become successful on someone else’s team it would be very psychologically damaging to me and it’s almost worth using a roster slot to make sure this didn’t happen. But fuck it, I could use the draft pick.
In other news, I really don’t like keeping 4 QBs, but I didn’t feel like I could cut any of them. If anyone is interested in Rodgers/Darnold/Tannehill/Allen I’ll listen to any reasonable offers.
Ryquell Armstrong is a weird keep considering he’s just a random third string back and hardly worth keeping, but it’s clear Jacksonville isn’t interested in keeping Fournette, and so they’ll probably give Armstrong a test run this year before deciding to draft another RB next year. It’s very unlikely he amounts to anything, but since I’ve got no RBs at all I felt like it was worth the lottery ticket in case it works out.
Also… without keeping him, I would’ve also been in the ridiculous state of having as many defenses as RBs and I don’t want to rob Ellis Dee of that honor.
I had 2 guys on IR, so 6 cuts should equal draft picks in rounds 1-4.
Also, usually Jules or I would’ve added the keeper lists into the league by now so you could search easier for who’s available. I don’t think I’m gonna have time to do that until tomorrow. I doubt anyone who got cut from anyone else’s roster or was unowned will play a part in the first round of the draft, but if there’s any doubt about who is available, look at cut lists or ask.
So I did send omni an e-mail around the start of the draft to remind him that it was ongoing. I know a lot of people aren’t on the boards as much as they used to, but try to pay extra attention during the draft so that it can go smoothly. The season starts late this year, so we’re not super crunched for time, but let’s get this going smoothly where we can.
