SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year 12

Nope, I would taken him and then worked a trade for Wilson or Prescott. Tee Higgins was definitely on my draft list and glad I got him

Bah. I was hoping to trade up for Burrow. Still interested in trading up, but less so than before.

I had Burrow on my radar considering my QB situation but I’ve been burned multiple times reaching for a QB in this draft due to need (see Bortles, Blake and Trubisky, Mitchell). His credentials are unimpeachable, but in my gut I think he’s going to underperform relative to expectations. Partly because of the organization, partly because of his one-year wonder status, and partly just because expectations are just too damn high. That said, if he were there towards the end of the second round I’d have been trying to trade up.

2.03 Antonio Gibson, RB, Wash

@EllisDee is on the clock.

Yeah, I don’t need Burrow. And I’m not sure I believe the hype. And I don’t trust the Bengals at all.

But if he was still hanging around at 2.10, I probably would have taken him.

Okay I updated that list above to reflect the trades, and also my pick. Now I wanna try something to take advantage of the new board features:

The idea here is you can expand the quote (the “V”, not the up arrow) to see the full results, but (assuming no trades have changed the order since the full list was last posted) you only really need to see the current round to keep it moving. The little “V” expander shows the entire post, so I left the full results essentially in their own post and saved my overly verbose comments for this one.

When the first round ended the two players left on the board I coveted the most, in order, were Jalen Reagor and Joe Burrow. So of course they went 2.1 and 2.2. Then my (somewhat distant) third choice was Gibson. So that sucked. But now I’ve fallen in love with Pittman, so yay me! I wanted a WR here anyway.

Now I’m actually pretty happy that Burrow didn’t fall to me because I was for sure taking him.

New York Fanboys take:

2.04 - Michael Pittman, WR, Ind

That Quote thing is very cool. I have no idea how to do it.

Also, tagging @Jules_Andre. You’re up.

EDIT: Nevermind, you tagged him in the other post. This new board is going to take a lot of getting used to.

Kendrick Bourne, Tim Patrick, Chris Herndon, Noah Fant, David Njoku, Adrian Peterson, Rex Burkhead, and Myles Gaskin are all up for trade, and I’m still looking to move up in this round.

2.05 - Bryan Edwards, WR, LV

@Ol_Gaffer is on the clock

A bit, but I’ve come to really like it. There’s some quirks and it’s a bit of a nanny in spots, but on balance it a big step up especially when it comes to authoring content.

If you don’t like the remaining options in your spot, I’d be willing to move Anthony Miller, James Washington, or Corey Davis for your pick until the guy I want is gone.

It’s an automatic feature whenever you quote a partial post. See, for example, Omni’s reply to Justin two posts up. Since he didn’t quote the entire post, you can click the dropdown to see the complete post that was quoted.

Turns out it won’t help with draft results like I was hoping. You can quote just one round, but picks made after the full list is posted won’t appear when expanding the dropdown.

If the board supported infinite time for editing posts and someone was willing to continually edit their post to update the picks, the idea about quoting it would work great. But…can’t edit.

2.06 - Laviska Shenault Jr., WR, JAC

@RetroVertigo is up.

Draft results are up to date. I had to make a correction - when I was putting in Overly’s keepers, I accidentally made him keep Zack Moss in addition to Ross (must’ve clicked them both somehow). I corrected that, to give RNATB Ross ad to set Overly’s pick right.

I also processed the trades, swapping 2.01 and 2.03 and 3.03 and 4.01 between Omni and I.

Hamlet got 2.02 and Overly’s last pick, 7.08. Overly got 2.12 and Christian Kirk (who he now keeps in the 10th instead of Hamlet keeping him).

I think everything is correct now but double check your rosters and your picks.

Incidentally I think that this was probably the hardest to input draft we’ve had so far. We had a lot of swaps from last year, and then two trades that involved players for picks, and then a bunch of other trades. It’s not hard, I just have to put things in step by step, but I did screw myself earlier when I did something out of order. But I think everything is good now. The remaining draft matches EllisDee’s list.

It does result in a few places where teams are keeping (already owned) players in a high rounder than some of their draft picks. It looks funny but that’s not an error, that’s just the quirk of way the trades worked out. Like if you kept 22 players, giving you picks in rounds 1-3, and then you made a trade with someone with your first pick and got their last pick (a 6th rounder back) then your draft would be 2nd round draft pick, 3rd round draft pick, kept player, kept player, 6th round draft pick.

Not a complaint, I love all the trading, just an observation. Lots of trades affecting this year, some made last year, some made during the draft.

Well, okay, let’s see what happens when I manually change the quoted text to reflect the last two picks but still pointing at the old list.

My guess is that clicking the “V” to expand will remove picks 2.05 and 2.06, but then they should reappear when you close the dropdown. (Not that this would be particularly practical; mainly just curious what happens.)

EDIT: Yep, that’s what happens, and I gotta be honest, I don’t totally hate it.

Anyone know if there are other ways to “hide” output where you don’t see it unless you click something to show it?

Aha, found it, it’s called “Hide Details” and it works similarly to our old (awesome) spoiler tag. Except instead of “spoiler” you can title it anything. The tag name is details.

2.07 Tua Tagovailoa QB Mia

@dalej42 is up.

I’m out of picks but I’d be willing to pick-up a draft spot if someone wants to trade out.

Tom Brady has provided consistent QB play since season #1 for me, hopefully Tua provides a similar level.

I watch a lot of SEC football and I think had he not gotten hurt he would have gave Burrows a run for the #1 QB in this years draft.

I’ve been sleeping like shit, so I took sleep medicine tonight, I’ll have a pick in by noon Chicago time or so. Right now I’m so woozy, I’d probably draft OJ Simpson
