Hisssssssssssss
Haha, thanks guys for the confidence. Yes, I wouldn’t open the PM until after I made my pick and it was time to make that pick, but even if I did it, since it was RNATB making the picks, it would just tell me who not to draft anyway.
I’ll get my pick in within the next couple of hours, probably sooner. I didn’t expect both of the late first/early 2nd RBs to be here and I need to decide between them. Our draft has been surprisingly light on RBs - yes, there aren’t many top notch prospects out there, but we’re usually so hungry for them that we start drafting guys a full round early sometimes.
We’re learning…like the Borg.
I was actually thinking I’d have to draft Kincaid despite having Pitts because he was in such a good situation and we can start 2 TEs. I’m still considering it actually, some people are super high on him, and I only have 1 TE on my roster. But I didn’t even look too closely at the RBs because I was 90% sure they’d be gone here.
I was listening to some podcast a couple of weeks ago and they actually used Kincaid as an example for weird deviations between forecasters. Some love him and some don’t and they said it was really odd as that is more indicative to how QBs get treated by forecasters than skill-positions. Usually there is a consensus towards what tier a player falls into, but he seems to be an odd one in the mix.
Their thought was it is because he is a 5th year player and those types of players don’t typically see themselves higher on draft boards.
My gut says to take Kendre Miller here, he looks like he has the skills to be a reliable NFL grinder, and while his situation is probably not great this year (I think they’ll run Kamara into the ground and then cut him) he’s super young and they spent enough draft capital that they’re going to give him a chance to be Kamara’s replacement.
De’Von Achane obviously has the look of an undersized gadget player who will never be a fantasy star or a primary back for a team. But his name is pronounced “ay-chain” and that’s almost a-train and that’s gotta be worth something.
But when I make these sorts of decisions, I usually pick the wrong guy, so I’m going to try the Costanza method.
1.11 De’Von Achane, RB, MIA
Whoops. I don’t know if an edit will trigger a mention, so I’ll make a new post.

@Really_Not_All_That_Bright is up to kick off the 2nd round
Jules believes that running backs do not require ACLs. Good for him.
Can’t tear an ACL you don’t have.
Can we chip in and buy a Titans jersey that says “Arthur Itis” for Jules?
We all know I will have traded him long before his knee is a problem
Here I was hoping Spears would be there at 2.10.
Have you ever drafted from your natural pick?
It almost seems like he never even drafts from the picks he trades his original picks for. He then trades those picks away before deigning to actually draft a player.
It’s almost like he’s laundering draft picks.
Updated for the recent trade. Peteys now has three 2nd rounders. (EDIT: And Jules had three 1st rounders!)

Hopefully @Really_Not_All_That_Bright hasn’t lost power from a tornado.
To explain the Achane pick a bit, he was also nationally competitive in track events during his time playing football and that’s why he kept his weight so low, so it sounds like he has some room to pack some muscle on his frame that other 180 pound guys probably don’t. At least I hope. Camp reports are that he’s up to 195 and has some room to go up.
I also probably wouldn’t draft him if he was on any team but the Dolphins or Chiefs. The dolphins/McDaniel/Shanahan tree like to scheme for running backs like him and it seems like he’s a good fit for their system. Plus having Waddle and Hill to clear out the defenses gives him a lot of space to work with. I think he’s probably going to be unreliable and has RB2 type upside with high efficiency and low volume and you’ll have to guess if this is one of the weeks he’ll rip off a 60 yard TD which may be a bit of a headache, but there was no slam-dunk pick at my spot anyway so I decided to roll with the guy who at least has some elite attributes and an ideal situation for his skillset.
WR was an option but it’s the one place on my roster I can get by with good depth. Taking a QB with my first pick behind Josh Allen didn’t really make any sense. Kincaid you could maybe justify since we can indeed start 2 TEs but it’s hard to imagine he’ll be significantly more productive than just starting my 4th or 5th WR, so I felt kinda forced into going RB there.
Beef, did RNATB ever send a message with his picks just in case?
They also like having a whole stable of backs instead of one. Jeff Wilson/Raheem Mostert/Matt Breida/Tevin Coleman/Jerrick McKinnon/Eli Mitchell. It’s rare they have a lead back/workhorse back, and instead use miltiple backs. Maybe Achane will be the exception, but I knew I wasnt going to be drafting him because I dont see him as a guy who will get enough volume each week to know when to start him.
I had no problem taking Bryce Young at 10 even though I already have Mahomes. I think Youngs the most talented, high upside player there, and even if he wont start for me often, I worry about depth, and maybe he’ll have trade value.
