After Lamar Jackson threw that last TD I was thinking ah shit it’s looking pretty bad for me, I’m gonna miss the playoffs. But then I checked Dale’s game and RNATB is actually doing pretty good, so I might sneak in that way.
Josh Allen dragged everyone on the field into the end zone and Deebo just caught a bomb. Nice turn in my favor.
Years back I was choosing between Deebo and AJ Brown and overall I made a mistake by picking Deebo, but I think he’s won me a lot of games over the years. He seems to put up one of his huge games right when I need it pretty often. He’s up over 30 points with a quarter still to play. Yahoo puts me up at a 96% edge now, so hopefully that holds. I’m glad I’ll probably be able to get in the playoffs under my own terms with a strong finish rather than backing in.
We have our playoffs.
- 11-3 Jules Andre, 1966.95 points this season
- 9-5 Hamlet, 1694.67 points
- 9-5 SenorBeef, 1679.89 points
- (wildcard) 9-5 Ellis Dee, 1698.3 points.
Well, shit. On the one hand, I made the actual playoffs after not even making the consolation bowl last year, so that’s good. On the other hand, I have to face Jules in the first round. That’s…not so good.
In other news, all three of my shitty quarterbacks scored 20 points this week: Baker Mayfield, Zach Wilson and Tommy DeVito. Crazy.
It has been pretty good for everyone else the last couple years.
I finished with the second highest 14-game point total in this league’s history. I needed 139.45 this last week to beat that record, I average over 140 a week, didn’t happen. However, Omni did break the record for the lowest ever score over 14 weeks. Not a surprise considering he started a QB who wasn’t even playing twice. The bottom three teams this year all finished in the lowest 20 all-time for season totals.
This whole year I’ve been thinking I’ve had a fairly weak (and beat up) team and that I was barely sneaking into the playoffs, but I’ve actually averaged 131 points over the last 7 weeks, which is pretty good. I finished off with a bang with the highest score of the last week of the regular season but my lowest score over that period is a still pretty good 110. My score, like everyone’s, is far behind Jules but I’m right up there with the other playoff teams now.
Which is kind of remarkable given that I lost what should have been my top 2 RBs very early in the season and the breakout star missed most of the season. And my WRs just kind of suck. Deebo is good and I have nothing else. I’ve got to have the worst WR group of a playoff team in this league, at least using current production.
I’ve been succeeding on the strength of QB play and defense and Deebo, which is pretty unusual. But I’m hopefully peaking at the right time, and I hope Achane can be back fully for the playoff run. He’s my secret weapon.
All of my fantasy leagues have been a giant mush of teams in the middle this year. Seems like almost everyone is within a game of .500.
This tracks with what’s going on throughout the real NFL with both conferences seeing a huge log jam of teams fighting for wildcards.
It seems like there must be some correlation but I’ll be damned if I can explain it.
Same old, same old. Another solid season, another bunch of injuries, and I lose the #3 WR in the entire league to injury before the playoffs. And the guy who wouldve benefitted the most by his absence has been on my IR since week 3. Add that to being down to my 3th string TE, another of my IRed WR option making more touches possible for my opponent’s team, and possibly losing another top 20 WR, and I’m not feeling too optimistic this week.
Same old, same old.
Good Luck Beef! Although we’re fighting the juggeraut that is HHH this season, there is always hope.
What the fuck. I started the LAC defense.
All of my defense choices sucked this week, but with Denver against Detroit and Dallas against Buffalo, LAC vs LV seemed like a good bet. Charger’s defense is mediocre but Oakland was shut out last week. So… of course Oakland makes a run at the NFL scoring record.
Achane was limited in practice all week and probably won’t get much work even if he plays Sunday. I’m down Stevenson too so I might have to start Latavius Murray at RB this week.
I’m in the unusual position of having too many startable running backs. All three of my main guys are healthy and starting: Saquon, Mixon and Kenneth Walker. And now with Mattison down, my man Ty Chandler gets his first start in Minnesota.
None of these guys are exactly world beaters, of course. Saquon is projected for 13 but everyone else is projected for 11, including Chandler. I think I have to just stick with my main three instead of trying to guess which one might have an off day. (If I were going to start Chandler, I think I’d pull Mixon.)
Wish I could start Chandler at quarterback. Anyone up for going to superflex but without having a dedicated QB spot? heh.
In the race to "poor, poor pitiful me"land, I am now also without top 20 WR Chris Olave. Once again, I find myself not enjoying fantasy football. It’s frustrating.
Jules is gonna have brain explosion if our bad game continues and someone wins with like 95 points while the loser of the other game has like 130 points. I’m sure it’s confirmation bias but it seems like teams with similarly good/poor performances get matched up by more than chance. If 4 teams have 70 72 120 and 122 points, it seems like it’s 70 vs 72, and 120 vs 122 a lot.
Bad game for both Hamlet and I, we might both score under 100. He’s got a 58/42 projected edge over me currently. I certainly don’t love seeing my score of 20 points in the fourth quarter of the early games. I’m going to need one of those huge games from Josh Allen or Deebo Samuel, but I may have cashed those in just to get to the playoffs.
Jules have been around 50/50 all day. Most of Ellis’ players have played, and Jules has a lot still to go.
Damn, I forgot to check on Stroud’s availability and now he’s out with a concussion.
Any chance I can swap him out for Kyler Murray (who hasn’t played yet)?
Fuck me, I don’t remember how we’ve handled that in the past. If you had posted ahead of time “if Stroud is out I want to start Murray” that’s within what we normally do. And this isn’t really fundamentally different - it’s not as though Kyler Murray has played yet, so you’re not gaining any advantage, so I’m inclined to say yes, but if anyone objects to that please say so. Or if you remember if we had this same situation in the past and how we handled it.
I think given how accommodating and owner-friendly we’ve tried to be in this league with situations where no one gains an advantage by this type of change, I went ahead and changed Kyler Murray as the starter. I’m trying to do what’s the most consistent with our past and what would be the best overall outcome, but this very well might piss someone off, so either way there’s a downside. But if anyone objects or remembers that we did this differently in the past please speak up.
Game flow of the Buffalo game killed me. The Bills were so dominant that they didn’t need Allen to do much and Cook stole all my TDs. And Dallas got down by so much so early that they can’t try for field goals, which crippled my kicker. I’m still alive but it’s not looking great.
My apologies to dale, but this seems to no longer matter.
I definitely didn’t expect to finish anywhere near the middle of the pack when the season started, so this is a nice surprise.
