SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year 15

Can Tyler Lockett get you 24.83 points tonight, @SenorBeef? Asking for a friend.

He was good for that 3 or 4 times a year until last year or so, but I don’t think it can happen anymore. It will be frustrating losing a playoff game to someone who scored under 90 points when I exceeded that score 11 times this season. I’ll probably have a huge championship week just to make it worse.

Jules defeats Ellis, Hamlet defeats SenorBeef

Justin defeats Dale, RNATB defeats Retro

Championship game is Jules vs Hamlet, third place game is SenorBeef vs Ellis Dee, consolation bowl is Justin vs RNATB.

So I’ve played 210 regular season games in this league and probably another 30 in the playoffs. Where does my 66 point score rank in all of those games? Second worse, only to a few points lower in 2017. What a horrible time to have such a bad game, and Hamlet had what I’m sure is one of the lowest playoff scores in history and I couldn’t beat it. Ah well. Good luck defeating the juggernaut, Hamlet.

Does the consolation bowl count for anything anymore?

Winner gets extra FAAB.

Welp, it’s Championship Week, and it feels much more like a crowning of a foregone conclusion than a competition But then I remember its fantasy football, so anything can happen.

I’ll be doing holiday stuff tonight, so I stuck Olave in my lineup because reports were that he will play. If he doesn’t, I’d be swapping in Demario Douglas (yes, it has come to that).

Good Luck Jules, and thanks again for helping run the league!

Best of luck, Hamlet. I think you have the better matchups top to bottom, and I’ve had almost no success in the playoffs in this league. I had a better overall team last year and finished 4th, so the reverse jinx juggernaut talk doesn’t hold water. You’re right though, anything can happen, so we’ll see. Regardless, happy holidays, everyone!

My man Puka getting me off to a strong start.

I screwed myself a bit by being lazy/inattentive. I was thinking “I don’t have any players playing in the Thursday night game” but if I had looked I would’ve started Rashid Shaheed over Josh Downs and he ended up putting up 16 points.

My beautiful Josh Allen is having a pretty good game. I’m going to need that. Rhamondre Stevenson was declared out and Jayden Reed isn’t looking great, I’m gonna be stuck starting some stinkers.

Hamlet has a small early edge against Jules.

I’m pretty happy to just have made the playoffs after some pretty brutal injuries this year all at the same position. I was curious how often I made the playoffs so I looked at my finishes in the history of the league:

1st 3
2nd 1
3rd 4
4th 1
6th 1
10th 1
11th 2
12th 1

So playoffs 10 years out of 15, pretty solid. That may be the most playoff appearances in the league, although Jules probably has a higher rate. I almost never finish in the middle - either at the top or the bottom with one exception.

@EllisDee you have a player declared out starting

A second Kyle Pitts touchdown this year! Merry Christmas everyone!

I meant to start Flacco this week but it’s not a big deal if I can’t swap him.

Oops. I checked my roster multiple times during the week but not this morning, and then fell asleep around noon and just woke up. My bad.

I would have pretty obviously started Nico Collins instead, but without starting Nico our game is pretty much a dead heat. Whatever you want to do works for me. In terms of fairness, I’m thinking you should probably plug Nico in for me only because the loser of this game wins a better draft pick. Getting a better draft pick because I accidentally started a player who was declared out feels kind of cheaty.

EDIT: If this were the championship game I would say the opposite, but being the third place game, pretty much the only thing of consequence to come out of this matchup will be draft position.

EDIT 2: If you feel weird about making such a change against our normal standard procedure because it would benefit you personally, the fact that I (the guy who would lose the benefit) am suggesting it hopefully removes that stigma.

Well, I certainly didnt expect Yahoo to give me a 91% favorite to win after today’s games, but facing 3 49ers tomorrow will make me, much to my dismay, a Ravens fan for a day. I feel dirty…

I’ll swap in Collins for you. If you had multiple viable choices of starters, it wouldn’t have met the criteria because it wouldn’t be unambiguous who you would’ve started, but all your other WRs were either hurt or played on previous days, so this is similar to the Kyler Murray situation a few weeks ago. In the future though it’s better if you know you won’t be around pre-game to declare your intentions before the game.

Yeah that was my bad.

Hamlet has a 68 point lead over Jules with Aiyuk still to play, Jules has Purdy, McCaffery, and Kittle.

I need 17.41 points out of Deebo and Odell Beckham to beat Ellis Dee.

Hamlet defeats Jules to be our 2023 champion.

Ellis Dee defeats SenorBeef to take third place.

Dale defeats Retrovertigo for the 5th place game.

RNATB beats Justin for the 7th place game.

A convincing 57 point win for Hamlet. Jules has built a juggernaut these last few years but he has down weeks during the playoffs. He was far and away the highest scorer this year so it’s a pretty huge upset that he didn’t win the championship any of the last 2-3 years.

The timing couldn’t have been worse. All three other playoff teams outscored Jules this week, so no matter who he faced he would have lost.

Never doubted it for a moment.

I get to join @SenorBeef as the only 3 time winners in this league with a well-timed great showing by Breece Hall and a deep roster that let me overcome injury losses.

I anticipate losing the stud value of Ekeler and Allen as their performances tail off as they age, but there are young replacements in the wings. Aiyuk, Olave, and hopefully Mike Williams can be a solid WR crew for the forseeable future. But the real strength is my RB position with Breece Hall, Kyren Williams, and Javonte Williams being a great crew going forward. And I’m thrilled that Kyren Williams, like Ekeler, was a wily waiver wire add that may have a stud potential going forward. Love that value. Mahomes’ struggles this year and Wallers age/injuries can be huge issues for me moving forward though. And, of course, it is dependant on injuries and timing.

And, just to live up to my inner asshole: LOOK UPON MY WORKS, YE MIGHTY, AND DESPAIR!!!
