SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year 17

Draft starts in less than 8 hours. I’m sure @dalej42 and @EllisDee will get their cuts in by the deadline but I wanted to put a reminder out there just in case.

Cuts:

Amari Cooper-WR
Diontae Johnson-WR

Israel Abanikanda-RB

Gerald Everett-TE

Tennessee D/ST

Well, shit, my bad. For some reason I thought our draft started Monday. I’ll post my cuts in a couple hours

@Really_Not_All_That_Bright Did you intend to keep 23 players? (2 draft picks)

This is a link to the current rosters. It will stay updated as draft picks are entered. Currently it has everyone but Dale and Ellis Dee. Please double check that I entered your kept players correctly.

It also has the correct draft order. We only have two trades so far involving picks (2.03 goes from Justin to SenorBeef, 4.11 goes from SenorBeef to Justin, 2.10 goes from Jules to Omni, and 6.1 goes from Omni to Jules) but as draft trades are made this list will be updated to reflect it.

The annoying thing is if you have the app on your phone it automatically kicks you over to using it and none of the rosters are active.

Alfonso Gaffer? Is that you?

Apologies for the delay…

Trade log in the OP says Jules gets Omni’s last pick, which is 7.01 (73), not 6.01 (61). But it doesn’t really matter either way since you can override whatever you need to when you enter our draft results manually.

My mistake. This has been fixed in the league. Thanks for writing up the draft order.

I entered your keepers into the draft and it should be complete and correct.

The 2025 draft is now open, @Omniscient is on the clock with the 1.01

Yes. I really like my guys (though I just offered Jules a trade that would give me two extra roster spots).

I didn’t get anything, unless you sent it to someone else and thought it was me?

I was pondering taking Jules up on his fire sale offer but I don’t even know if I’m a contending team or what. I was in the championship game last year and was points leader until the last second so it seems like an obvious yes, but actually looking at my team and I have so few star players it sort of feels like no. I mean I’m not rebuilding, I’m contending, but I don’t know if this is a “you’re really close so buy those pieces that push you over the edge” moment

The interesting part of that equation is that you are closest to a championship before any other teams make trades. Every other team that buys in to the fire sale makes it harder to compete.

Last season was the first in this league’s history without any in-season trades, and I found that very disheartening. But I was pleasantly surprised by the response to my fire sale notice, and I think I’ll have a chance to shake things up quite a bit

Sorry I meant Hamlet.

Hey folks, let’s get her started. I’m on a plane back from Montana after my crazy IRL Fantasy Draft weekend with the guys. Safe to say you’re not getting me at my best right now.

1.01 Ashton Jeanty, RB, Raiders

I confess, I’m not enamored with Jeanty. The college production was obviously amazing but he just doesn’t pass the eye test for me. I’m very worried I just drafted the next Najee Harris, but I’m going to trust the consensus.

To say I have a need at RB would be a pretty big understatement so as much as I would like to parlay Jeanty into more picks it’s apparently not in the cards.

@Hamlet is on the clock.

Well, that pick was no surprise. So I guess I can jump in and surprise people before Hamlet picks.

Trades to announce:

Jules gives up:
WR A.J. Brown
RB Christian McCaffrey
Pick 7.01

Peteys gives up:
WR Rome Odunze
Pick 1.08
Pick 2.08

And so begins The Great Rebuild. Technically, I still had the strongest team going into this season by a significant margin, but we have all seen how well that has worked out for me these last four to five years. Missing your stop when you’re trying to move on from veteran players just won’t work in a league like this, so I have to get off the ride a stop early. Of course, my team before these trades will end up being the champion, no doubt. At least the draft will be way more fun again!

tldr.

1.02 Omarion Hampton, RB, San Diego Chargers

@Justin_Bailey is on the clock.

My WRs sucked so I’m now loving my team post trade.

Meanwhile, I’m enjoying a pint of excellent ale and find it funny that no one in the U.K. gives a shit about the NFL except for wearing merch. Keep scheduling those overseas games, boys!

I fully admit I can’t see your roster and without that information I’m trying to understand that trade from your side.
