Halftime for the early games and Varlos and I are in a dead heat. The suspense is killing me.
Hey, I’m still (mathematically) alive. I just need Beef to lay an egg next week.
You would have to outscore me by 108 points.
I could still take the division by winning this week and Petey losing, but it’s unlikely. But either way I’m going to make the playoffs for the 7th year in a row - no one is in serious wildcard contention with Petey or I, whichever loses the division.
Varlos can still make it with a win and a JB loss.
Hamlet has a pretty slim chance - if he wins, and Stringer loses, and he outscores Stringer by about 75 points he’d win his division.
In other news, congrats to dale for clinching the #1 overall pick next year. There is a 3-way race for the #2 overall pick:
If I lose, I clinch the pick.
If I win and RetroVertigo loses, he clinches the pick.
If we both win, Jules_Andre can sneak past us with a loss provided I outscore him by 32+ points.
Otherwise, I get it.
As always, no sandbagging. I’ll be starting my highest possible projected points (as I did this week), and suggest we all three do the same.
EDIT: Unsurprisingly, we’re all underdogs next week.
Another nice thing to see is all of us cellar-dwellars have been making moves. Retro has made the fewest of us four, but he’s also scored way more points than us. He’s actually scored a competitive amount of points in the league, but appears to have suffered from bad matchups.
It RNATB defeats SeniorBeef, they’re tied. Wouldn’t RNATB win the tie-breaker based on head to head record? (2-0)
As per here the first tiebreaker in wildcard determinations is total points scored. Yahoo doesn’t seem to use head to head as a tiebreaker.
I just realized, there is a very real possibility that I could finish the regular season with the highest Points total and miss the playoffs.
If yahoo projections are correct, you have an 83.5% chance of making the playoffs.
If we were fighting for the division title, I’d beat him on division record, but because it’s the wildcard he beats me on points (even though we’re in the same division).
I’ll celebrate early if I go into Monday night with an insurmountable lead.
Yes, yes. Beat me. See all the good it does. Yessss.
Barring a miracle, I’m going to limp to the consolation bracket again. Son of a bitch…
Oh wow, going back a couple of weeks I didn’t consider your chance of missing the playoffs to be a reasonable possibility. You were #1 half the year and in a clear lead in your division after that. That’s rough.
Not that it will end up mattering, but I’m currently projected to take division and #1 seed in another unlikely scenario - Dale might post the biggest score this week.
I thought Dale would’ve beat Petey tonight, but with only 5 points out of Dak Prescott it didn’t happen. He needs 8 points out of Dion Lewis and James White, which is very possible but a little bit in conflict since those two guys basically play the same role on the same team.
It really doesn’t matter - either way I’m playing Petey next week whether he’s the #1 or the #4, but it’d be nice to be at the top of the standings.
Sucks that the two strongest teams end up playing each other in the semi-finals. I’ve had an idea where the top seed should be able to pick the opponent they want rather than just being assigned the bottom seed, as often the #2 or #3 is more desirable to play against and it sucks to “reward” the #1 with the toughest matchup, but Yahoo doesn’t allow seeding editing like that as far as I know.
I’d like to thank Jules again for hanging in there and taking on a team in our league. I know it sucks to watch everyone else play the playoffs from outside of it. Everything in this league takes time, but I know you’re going to be one of the better teams.
Bad week for me. It appears that by the slimmest of margins I fall to the back of the pack, drafting 4th. Booooo.
By “slimmest of margins,” I mean that I will apparently outscore Jules 1490.42 to 1490.29, and since he lost his game we have the same record.
Boooo!
It wasn’t a fun season, that’s for sure! Regardless, thanks for having me, everyone.
I think my immediate future’s chances (next two seasons) hinge on the Rams finding an offensive line for Gurley, and Russell Wilson taking the next step that everyone predicted would happen this season. Coincidentally, that also requires the buttressing of* their *offensive line.
Absolutely unreal, hahahaha. It took Russell Wilson’s worst game ever, Seattle’s worst defensive game in Pete Carroll’s tenure, and one of my wide receivers to be active, but get hurt and record no stats. This is going to be an interesting offseason, because I’m not entirely sure where I’ll find more than 2 or 3 picks.
As always I appreciate the integrity of always trying your best to win every game. If you had tanked this game then it would’ve changed the rightful playoff winner - Varlos couldn’t have come back to (totally and deservedly and he totally knew he would the whole time) win the division from JB.
There’s always stat corrections to move up to #3. Keep hope alive!
Me too. Courtesy of another late-season collapse, no less - albeit not as dramatic a collapse as last year’s.
