Had to happen eventually, though that might be the biggest drop off from starter to backup we’ve ever had.
I must admit: I’m kinda looking forward to watching your team crash & burn in the playoffs. Don’t get me wrong: it would be even better if you were to somehow miss the playoffs entirely, then win the consolation bracket and send the 5th overall pick next year to Ellis. But, barring a couple big injuries, I must admit that’s looking unlikely. Therefore, I will content myself with an ignominious collapse in Week 15, followed by a bittersweet win the in the 3rd-Place game (with a total that easily bests both teams in the Championship matchup).
That’s exactly what happened last year, I put up the most points in the championship round. I was hit by 3 (4?) injuries to my starters late in the season, had one off game, and, well, that’s how fantasy playoffs work.
I think this week is actually going to be my toughest week, and it’ll say a lot if my team can survive the Green Bay bye. If I win this week, I think I’ve got at least a 1/3rd chance at an undefeated season, probably more.
And then I’d make the plunge to full blown supervillain.
FWIW, who knows how injuries will shake out, but as of now I have decent enough matchups in the playoff rounds and my projected score for Week 15 with my default starters is 137.09 and week 16 is 139.70. It’s a long season, who knows what may happen (in particular a Rodgers injury would be devastating), but’s looking good at this point.
Hmmmm. I had in mind 16-0, but I’d offer 2:1 on 14-0. 5:2 on 16-0.
Well, no one has come within 75 points of it seasons, so I’m betting you don’t. Remember, average points scored dips in the middle of the season.
Not sure what the odds would be. At 3:2 I’d offer the bet; at 5:1 I’d balk. somewhere in there.
I’d also be amendable to wagering 2014 draft picks, but I imagine there’d be an objection or two within the league.
Fire sale on my veterans! Who wants a tasty Reggie Bush? How about a nice Anquan Boldin? Matt Schaub? Owen Daniels? Even DeSean Jackson is now available, though you’ll pay a king’s ransom.
The absolute worst player movement was me a few years ago. I benched QB Drew Brees, started QB JaMarcus Russell during a Saints bye week. Russell got me negative points that week.
Betting draft picks would definitely raise the stakes and increase league engagement, and I like the idea for that reason, but I’m not sure it’s fair to all the uninvolved teams for parity reasons. Hmm.
I’ve got 441 messages in my Private Messages folder, almost all of them from this league, and almost all of them trade discussions (I’ve already deleted the deadline reminders and other non-essentials). I like to keep a record of the road not traveled, but pretty soon I’m gonna have to start making some decisions…
Nope. Calvin Johnson for LeSean McCoy was pretty close, but even then it was just theoretically pretty close. For all the time and words expended, I’m not sure either of us ever made an official, concrete offer (as opposed to the "I think it would be something like X and Y for A and B, but don’t hold me to that, I’ll take a long look at it this weekend" kind of thing).
