SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Two

Yeah, but I’d prefer a guy who slings it to his own team. Why can’t I enter the draft room yet?

Can you guys keep the Jay Cutler hatred to a dull roar some of us have to own him for life.

You married Jay Cutler? Does Phillip Rivers’ wife trash talk you?

Lemme start my excuses now by saying: Damn! This dynasty team I inherited sucks. Old, shoddy and suspended.

I wouldn’t sneeze at that DeAngelo Williams.

It’s a fixer-upper, a real handyman’s dream. Should be a fun rebuilding project!

When he’s not hurt. How many years will I be able to hold onto Portis, TO, Hines Ward and Kevin Faulk? Good god, I need to hit this one out of the ballpark.

The draft room is open.

He won’t last that long.

We’re talking about Bryant Johnson, right?

Weird. I’m pretty sure Matthews, Best, and Spiller are miles ahead of pretty much any other available players. After those three, I see a big dropoff.

I’m not sold on Best or Spiller. I’d draft Best with the #2 pick just because I’ve got 24K but I don’t think Best is ever going to carry the ball more than 200 times.

Draft time people!

Happy with the way that went. Got a starting wideout, which was all I really wanted.

That was rough.

How do waivers work in this league? I’ve never done an auction for free agents before. Do players become free agents at some point?

So… we ran into a problem. Retrovertigo pre-ranked his players (and I’m not sure if Warner’s Brothers did), but he left a kicker slot open on draft day, and Dale left open a defense.

They probably didn’t realize that the autodrafter will always fill up empty starting slots before it fills any bench slots based on pre-ranking. Result? With the third overall pick Retrovertigo drafted a kicker and with the 6th overall Dale drafted a defense. Clearly not what they had intended.

I don’t think Retro was negligent (since he did pre-rank, his pick of Bradford indicates that) and I’m not sure about Dale, but he may not have known about that aspect of the autodrafter. So I think an injustice was committed here - he didn’t deserve what happened - but I’m not sure what our options are to rectify the situation.
Edit: Waivers work in this league like we’ve been doing the all-pro league. Free agents go on waivers on gameday and stay that way for 2 days, and then people can make claims. We’re using a Free Agent Aquisition Budget system which works like a silent auction - you bid so many dollars on every waiver and the highest bidder wins it, and has the bid amount subtracted from his FAAB money for the rest of the year.

And do players become free agents on Friday or whatever? If you don’t bid on a do you get an opportunity to add him at all? What about now that the draft is over? Can we add and subtract players while preseason games are being sorted out?

Well that sucks, but I’m not sure what we can do about it at this point. Re-drafting seems unfair as well since everyone’s hand has been tipped.

Holy balls, I have a lot of running backs.

Right now, my starters are Michael Turner and Cedric Benson, with Cadillac Williams penciled in as the Week 1 flex. That leaves Kevin Smith (probably in a 50/50 timeshare with Best), Fred Taylor (penciled in to start), and Reggie Bush on my bench… plus handcuffs.

Need two starters for one of yours? Make me an offer. I’d even be willing to move one of my top two guys plus one of the latter four for one of the Big Two.

ETA: I’m primarily looking to upgrade my running backs, but I’ll listen to offers involving top-10 wideouts too.

Looking at the draft according to Round (instead of team) will be pretty interesting in a year or two, I imagine.

I think undrafted players go on waivers for 2 days.
