SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Two

I’ve been going back and forth on my RBs, but I’m starting Bradshaw. They’re reporting that the game will be played this week. But if not, I’ll substitute in Tomlinson.

Conversely, telling someone they have to bench Peterson because they eat a zero if the game doesn’t get played so they have to put in some scrub, and then the game gets played and Peterson runs for 20+ points, that would be worse than a conditional start.

Looks like the game will be played in Detroit on Monday anyway.

Ok, NFL.com is saying the game will be moved to Detroit (really, you fucking pussies - play outdoors at University of Minnesota at least) on Monday, so don’t worry about conditions and set your rosters normally.

This does not seem like Johnny Knox weather.

FUCK IT! JAMES JONES GAMBLE!

Damn it.

Saints Defense scores 25 points and they’re sitting on my bench.

Deion Branch scores 25 points and he’s sitting on my bench.

I realize a trip to the consolation round would just screw up my draft position for next year, but I wanted to end the season on a win dammit! Although I could still pull it out provided Brandon Jacobs and the Giants Defense does something good.

Doesn’t the consolation round winner get the first pick?

I recall proposing that but I think we were supposed to open it back up for discussion and never did.

The way we did it last year was that the consolation round winner gets the 5th pick. The four teams who missed the consolation round get picks 1-4 with the worst finish getting the first pick.

I assume it still goes the same way this year. Although giving the consolation round winner the #1 pick sounds like an awesome idea.

Gusterhoids has a 5 point lead, Jacobs, Witten, and Giants D against Furt’s Kitna, Andre Johnson, and Maclin.

Ellis Dee needs to make up 44 points with Manning and Manningham against Varlos.

If both Furt and Ellis Dee win, Ellis Dee has the division record tiebreaker. Furt needs to win and have Ellis Dee to lose if he wants the #3 seed.

We actually have a tight race for the #1 seed. We do HGH and Isotopes are going to have a tie at 11-3. And right now they’re only 2 points apart in total points scored, which is the tiebreaker.

Isotopes has Bradshaw, Dickson, Akers, and the Cowboys D and We Do HGH has Vick, Foster, and Ray Rice.

I’d say the most likely scenario at this point is 1. We do HGH 2. Isotopes 3. Furt 4. SenorBeef, but there’s lots of movement possible.

Interesting. I’d get the third pick if the season ended right now, but I have three left to play, including Schaub.

That’s how the keeper league works. Consolation bowl gets picks 1 through 4, then everyone else in reverse order. (Champion picks last.)

It’s a good way to discourage sandbagging for draft picks, and puts nice action on the consolation bowl. And speaking as a guy who finished dead last like three years in a row, getting the 5th pick each year does actually help the cause. (Just don’t be stupid and take Larry Johnson, Joseph Addai and Matt Forte with that 5th pick those three years in a row. Doh!)

Can we put it to a vote to do that here? The 5th pick is nice, but giving the consolation bow winner the first pick sounds pretty great.

As I don’t think anyone deliberately tanked their season for a better draft pick, we could even implement it for the 2011 draft.

We should really give the first pick in the draft to the guy who finishes in 4th place.

Besides, you guys don’t really want that pick anyway - the salary cap implications of the #1 pick are ridiculous, your team will be crippled for years if it turns out to be a bust. Better to draft towards the middle anyway.

Being in the middle got me Jimmy Clausen, Golden Tate (who could be good someday) and an injured Ben Tate who now sits behind the god-among-men that is Arian Foster. I’ll take my chances in a different part of the draft board thank you.

Seeding is still up in the air.

Ellis Dee is win and in due to holding the divisional tie breaker. He needs Manning and Manningham to put up 44 points. He’d also get in with a loss and a Furt loss.

Furt needs Andre Johnson to outscore Brandon Jacobs and the Giants D by 7 points. Certainly possibly. If Furt wins and Ellis Dee loses, he’s in. Whoever wins there gets the #3 seed.

I’m getting the #4 wildcard seed no matter what.

The #1 and #2 seeds are going to come down to season scoring. Right now Isotopes has 1802 points and Stringer has 1808. They both have 2 players left to play. Isotopes has Bradshaw and Ed Dickson, Stringer has Foster and Rice.

So it will probably be 1. Stringer 2. Petey 3. Ellis Dee (could easily be Furt though) 4. SenorBeef

I like the consolation bowl idea too - and not just because I’ll get in as the 8th seed if Schaub and Boldin put up enough points to nudge me past VarlosZ.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to have an imaginary secondary consolation bowl amongst the lowest 4 seeds to get the #1 pick? Seems like it’d make more sense to distribute it amongst the last 4 seeds instead of the middle 4, while still giving teams a reason to compete at the end of the year.

Probably, but I don’t see how that benefits me.
