Twas me indeed. I’ve now been to nearly all the home matches since. Wasl also extremely chuffed to get a last minute winner against Liverpool last night. Bolton normally LOSE to last minute goals!
Looking forward to going to the carling cup QF against Southampton now. Glad to be at home and glad it aint Arsenal or Chelsea
Barks’ dog food - I mentioned the Chelski vs. ManUre game, if only indirectly. Seems to me Ranieri has the defence to win the Premiership using Serie A-type conservative football, and might have decided to do just that; strong on defence, long midfield build-ups, close it down once in the lead . . we’ll see.
I thought Ranieria exposed Sir Mad Jock for what I think he’s always been, tactically naïve. And he’ll regret not signing Damien Duff (when he could have done in the summer) for the better part of a decade. I hope.
Elsie Tanner, Albert Tatlock, Ena Sharples, Noel Gallagher, Sean Ryder! Your boys took a hell of a beating!
Postigol!
It was good - now for the Boro. Still a bloody long journey home though.
And Rivaldo can fuck himself. And the horse he rode in on. In fact we aren’t at all interested. THis is because last time his (ludicrous) wages were going to be subsidised by Pepsi, and that offer isn’t on the table any more and we won’t pay his demnds.
In any case there is a greater need for a defensive midfielder, and possibly a goalie.
Well done Wanderers, cruelly snatching away this scouser’s second-last chance to see his team in his adopted city this season. Gerard Googlie-eye says the players are to have the Gallic wind up 'em when they turn up for training. I didn’t see the match but an Uday Hussein style foot-birching seems in order by all accounts.
In other news, Wales is somehow again put in pot 4 of the 2006 qualifying draw, below Scotland and alongside such behemoths as Bosnia, Austria and Israel.
That’s 'cos they haven’t actually qualified for a final since 1958, and that’s what it’s based on. Not current ability. Same reason England weren’t seeded for the Euro pot.
It is possible that the England group could contain ALL the home countries. That would be fun.
Had an interesting conversation down the pub last night. Someone pointed out that Bolton don’t need to win the Carling Cup to get into Europe. They just need to reach the final IF the oppsoing team is Arsenal or Chelsea.
My dear Mr Wanderers: You may be interested to know that they have just dug up a wopping great WWII bomb next to Loftus Rd. (It could concievably be a tin bath but we’ve all been told to be prepared to evacuate just in case).
However the game still goes ahead. THink what this says about Fulham and Bolton Fans.
I have a feeling in my waters that a Spurs/Bolton final is on the cards. Mind you those feelings are always wrong.
Damn, those Nazis were tricky; exploding tin baths, eh!
Good point on the qualification, Wanderers. I suspect it’s Chelski and one other in the Final - Wenger says he’s going to keep playing the kids come what may, and I always take what he says at face value . . .
Chelski vs. Spurs, what a great final !
. . . I’m off now to ready myself for the hatfull tomorrow - minimum of 3 - 0, maybe 4 !!
In non-Spurs news, Celtic have been drawn at home against Rangers in the semi-final of the CIS Cup (assuming we beat Hibs in the quarter-final, which we should, as Hibs are mince).
England, Wales and Northern Ireland are in the same group, along with Poland, Austria and Azerbaijan.
Scotland are in with Italy, Slovenia, Norway, Belarus and Moldova
And the Republic of Ireland have France, Switzerland, Israel, Cyprus and the Faroes.
The World Cup qualifying draw actually looked somewhat balanced. Scotland’s group looks like the closest thing to a group of death, and it will be darned tough for the Scots to qualify out of there.
I don’t know, it looks like it’s between you and Switzerland for runners up. The three lesser teams in your group really are minnows, if you thrash them you could qualify automatically.
Very good Group 6 from England’s perspective, and not too bad for Wales and NI either. I agree that Scotland have a bad group - apart from maybe Moldova there’s no easy games there.
