SDMB gamers, step forward

DRY, do I remember those? Lets see, digs through bookcases of RPG materials Yeap, still got a copy of the original printing of that one.

I have no clue what those are, unfortunately. 99% of my online gaming is done on Compuserve (NOT AOL!) but I have been trying to find other places to go since AOL seems to be trying to close down Compuserve for good now. I’m lurking some IRC channels. Hey, I’d be happy to RP with somebody new, always am looking for friends.

Y’know, I was half expecting a “freak” response when I typed that. Glad to see others like . . . uh . . . getting into their characters . . . uh, forget I said that.

I use to love M:tg before all those new epansions came out like mirage and ruined the game. I remember getting my first starter deck. It was Ice Age and I found a Jesters Cap in there. I was estatic.

Played Diablo over Battle.net like it was my Job. I still play it ocasionally.

I am addicted to Quake II right now. I am getting OK at it but its hard to be good with my high ping.:frowning:

But back in my prime I played D&D.

I would LOVE to start role-playing again. No one i know plays so maybe I can search the web for some gamers.

I wonder if they’re worth anything (I don’t wonder that much, because mine are long gone).

Also, is that Deities and Demigods with Cthulhu (sp) in it worth anything? (As I understand it, they had to pull the reference because they didn’t have Lovecraft’s permission)

I don’t know where Compuserve is… but I understand the closing down part. Lycos shut down its old chat and switched to something like Yahell now a lot of us can’t go there or don’t like it so we are in ATT. http://community.att.net is where it is but I can’t gauruntee (sp?) you’ll always get good RP there. It all depends on whos in and unfortunately theres a sort of power struggle happening right now between the old romancers and randomers from old Lycos. Oh and the rooms we RP in are in the UCRs (User Created Rooms) usually with RP or RPG tagged on the end.

The ClubChat I would give you but it doesn’t have a pool of RPers yet except for the House from Lycos and we are working on a site and stuff to build it up and make it better then what it was like in Lycos. (House refering to the Vampire House… Camarilla but we are a strange House… we have Tzimsce and Lasombra Primogens… though we only have 1 of each. And the Sabbat is also starting to rise as well. smiles They are helping to build up ClubChat with us. We’re all friends ooc… or mostly friends) Plus ClubChat we aren’t in all the time so its not like there are RPers there all the time ATT there usually is though how good they are depends on when your there.

laughs Actually I have a couple of guy c’s myself. I rarely play them though but I do have them. Makes things interesting.

Hmm . . . I’ll stop by and check it out, Topaz, thanks.

yw Sylence!

Let’s bump this thread back up. Gaming is my life.

Back in college, we switched systems and campaigns to match our therapeutic needs.

AD&D–My first game; custom specialization & skill rules we cooked up in the kitchen sink…We played this when we needed to freakin’ kill stuff.
Anecdote: Insanely overpowered cavalier just …confronted… our Lloth-seduced ranger with his lance; he attempts to fling the comatose ranger at Lloth (Demonweb Pits, BTW). “Do I get a to-hit bonus from his magic armor?”

Paranoia–LOL…We played this when we felt persecuted by the faculty.

Toon–We played this when we were too drunk to play anything else.

Vampire–We played this when we needed to feel dangerous.

CoCthulhu–We swapped off GM’ing this so we could use scenarios we envisioned for our professors…Christmas tree, needle, string, popcorn, faculty…any questions?

IFGS–Now I’m big-time involved in the International Fantasy Gaming Society LARP (note the sig–I’m a chapter quartermaster). The advantages here are that you get to pound on people with nerfsabers, roleplay with teammates and (real, live) NPCs in costume, and that no one who watches a game will ever call you a couch potato because you’re a gamer again.
