SDMB is an ADD trap...

If your brain keeps switching contexts every few seconds, you just go thread to thread, never bored, never leaving until finding unread threads becomes more troublesome than turning on the TV and switching channels.

:frowning:
WHY WON’T IT STOP!

Moved from IMHO to…
Oh yeah. MPSIMS.

It’s not just finding unread threads - it’s finding ones to which you have something to add. That’s the hard part - but maybe not so hard because of late I seem to be spending more time here than I do doing actual work…
 gee I hope my supervior doesn’t catch me

You’re just now figuring this out? Ohh… shiny factoid… gotta go!

Well now I realized that it’s the number of threads that make it so captivating. If it was one long interesting thread it would be more like a book - i.e. easier to put down.

It ebbs and flows. Some days there’s a hundred (ok, not 100, but a lot) threads I check on and I’m comment-happy. Other days, I drop a line here and there and just use the Control Panel to keep an eye on them. (Check the box that subscribes you every time you comment on a thread, but don’t get the e-mail).

ADD?!? Ha. I laugh at your ADD.

Why? Because, well because…Um, I got a toenail needs trimming, but right after that, I’m going to get to your point.

And I’m jealous. You had a point.

Showoff.

You got it. Now that my disorder has a name how to I slow down.

Oh wait I am still trying to find proof of dolphin IQ, safe nuclear power, Simpson quotes, Nanotubes tech and apps, PC Problems, what was I talking about,
I gotta go see if someone has added to one of my subscribed threads…

Ji

It’s easy to add to a thread, but it’s not easy to stay in one. They can become very tedious, very quickly. I have problems because a lot of the threads are too long and not engaging enough to keep my attention.
