SDMB is the 28th most active online forum!

… at least it is according to Big Boards, which apparently indexes a list of the most active online forums on the web.

Just thought I’d throw that out there and see what my fellow Dopers thought about it.

Good, good.

:::looks at 27 others more active:::

erm…confused

Any chance we could drop down to, say, #50? Just to give the hamsters a break?

Chiquititas (Hebrew forum for an argentinian soap opera) is #18. That has got to be one hell of a soap opera to be more active than these boards.

Hmm, I dunno but #15 looks pretty interesting…

poke

Just doing my bit to raise our ranking.

poke, prod

  1. Dammit!!! Now I have the song “Chiquititas” by ABBA stuck in my head!!! :dubious:

  2. Hey! What if we go on all of the other boards and post anonymously to direct them here? Could bump this site up a spot or two…

Literotica is number 15?? Erm, my bad! Sorry all!

And #29 is a Dave Mathews Band discussion forum? I mean, I love the Dave Mathews Band and all… but WTF?

Hmmmm. Select English only and SDMB ranking goes to #21. Since all posts here are required to be in English that makes me feel a little better.

There’s a sure sign of the Apocolypse there. At #17 JBB NSYNC fan message board

Over 6 mil posts…

Can you imagine what some of those posts must be like?

brain…shutting…down…

We may be 28th in quantity but where’s a site that ranks quality?

Sure sign that I have too much time on my hands…

I figured maybe we had the edge on posts/member ratios so I copied the entire list into Excel and did a little calculating and sorting of my own. The SDMB comes in at a paltry #95 with an average of 100 posts per user. The top board in this case is Black Sheep Forums (humorously reduced to www.bsforums.com for the URL) with 404 members averaging a whopping 1,513.6 posts each.

Hmm…the Dutch seem to be an active bunch on the Internet.
And the Subaru board? Are those cars that bad that people feel the need to flock to a board?

The list seems a bit like comparing apples and oranges.

A case could be made that SDMB is the number one board for people without a specific agenda.

Actually, the top is “Yaspb.de - Smalltalk and fun community (in german)” with 661191 posts from only 167 members, an average of 3959 per member.

It’s easier to just click sort by Posts/members ratio than to do all that in Excel.

Our agenda is fighting ignorance. At least in some forums. Organizing dopefests is another one.

[Massive hijack] As the father of an 11 year old Israeli girl - you don’t want to know… :frowning:  Someone has convinced the Israeli public that Latin-American Soap Operas are, well, “latin” - supposably meaning sexy, exotic, etc…

And we (well, they…) get to see “Ribaldes” (sp?) [“rebels” - they grow up a bit…] as well! Double whammy if I’ve ever seen one
[/massive hijack]

SMB drops to 49 when you look at posts last week!
Only one behind Yu-Gi-Oh trading card game message boards but a massive 24 behind HANSON mb - WTF!!!

Anything to do with less hamsters?

We’re #4 in general discussion forums. Two of the boards above us are non-english boards.

The top english site on that list looks like the ignorant, redneck version of the SDMB

Just look at the posts on that English general discussion Message Board that’s above us, and it’s clear why they get more traffic than we do.

That site is actually how I found this board.
