Was the SDMB just down for 3 to 4 hours? It seems to be working normally now.
It appears to have been down. The boards all have a gap where people stopped posting around 11:10, and I still can’t access straightdope.com itself, just the forum.

The two most recent posts on the SDMB are about 20 minutes apart. From that fact, and from some complaints on the Facebook SDMB group, it appears that many are having trouble logging back it.
In the last 2½ hours (by my estimate), I’ve been the only one to post here. I have heard that there is a denial-of-service attack on the SDMB, which might explain why I’m the only person logged in at present.
So no mods are around at present. If I were the sort of person to break the rules …
What was it like to be the last person alive on earth? You could turn your experience in to a mini-series. I’d watch it.
Anyone know of the particular motive for someone wanting to attack the SDMB with a DOS attack, or is this random hacking?
It was a bit like talking in an empty room. I don’t think you could even make a short story about it – perhaps a haiku at best.

It was weird for us, watching you in the big, empty glass room, waving at you and pounding on the glass, knowing you couldn’t hear.
BTW I’m having to log in every time I reopen the board, both on my computer and on my kindle. With my new password, of course.
