I want to know how Anderson Cooper is preparing for the debate.
I just hope Clinton doesn’t get overeager, like Kaine did. There’s so much to work with here that it would be easy to get distracted - she has to pick two or three points of attack, at most, and focus.
AM Joy this morning. [del]The[/del] -some- evangelicals supporting Trump seem to see this as no problem because it wasn’t “racist.” Apparently Trump is an equal opportunity groper.
Dear Ms. Clinton. Please, reference this matter EARLY in the debate. Let Trump go ballistic on national TV. Please.
Hopefully by watching, over and over, the 2 minutes of video of Trump getting off the bus. You know parts of that will be in Hillary campaign ads starting Monday.
Simple solution: come 8:30 pm Sunday, somebody create the actual thread for the debate coverage, and stop posting in this one. I’ll do it if nobody else wants to.
If a moderator wanted to edit the title of this thread to “Pre-debate speculation and discussion,” that would be awesome, but I understand if it doesn’t happen :).
That would be rather foolish. There’s much to be discussed pre-debate, like Trump’s comments on women, leading up to the debate. All this sets up the tone of the debate. Funny how so many people love omnibus threads about anything cops do, with hundreds of pages, yet complain about 2 or 3 pages of pre-debate discussion in a debate thread. Should we close this and have a post-debate thread too? We could have a pre-debate, debate and post-debate thread? I know, it sounds silly when you look at it like that, right?
Other than that, I think it works fine. These threads grow rapidly with 5 to 6 posts a minute during the debate. They are very hard to follow it you’re not paying attention of reading post by post thereafter. Are you going to complain about that too?
Then you should have called this the “SDMB 2nd Debate Thread” and not the “live coverage thread”.
Some of us have clearly articulated the problems with labeling a thread as “live coverage” for an event that happens several days after the thread is open for posting.
Will you now start a “live Super Bowl watching” thread as soon as the last playoff game is finished? :dubious:
This trend in Elections to have non-focused thread topics is getting to be a drag.
I swan, this place be goin’ to RACK and RUIN.
I’ve searched the rules and I can’t find anything supporting your position. Meanwhile, I’ll go to the quarry and toss a few Republicans in while you find such a rule.
ETA: In a few hours, it will all resolve itself. Wait and see. It’ll come.
No one claimed there was such a rule. Typically, though, on the SDMB, you don’t a start a “live coverage” thread until much closer to the thing in question being actually, you know, live. And that makes sense. What you did here, not so much. You seem to want to dominate both the speculation as well as live coverage. That doesn’t sit well.
It’ll work just fine. Trust me.
No thanks.
Then you have my permission to ignore it.
And hopefully someone with less self-aggrandizing intent will start a real live coverage thread when the event is actually live.
That’ll earn you a warning, Knorf. You should know better than to insult other posters this way.
This election is making everyone cranky!
Thanks, Obama.
Kidding, kidding, kidding!
Honestly, the sturm und drang is unnecessary. I stand by my original proposal :).
The debate about the debate thread within the thread about the debate. Totally meta.
Now this…
Donald Trump to Howard Stern: “It’s okay to call my daughter a ‘piece of ass’…”
He really better not show up. Seriously Donald, don’t go to the debate.
I wonder if Clinton will be highly aggressive to Trump on the recent scandals during the debate? I picture in my mind that during the debate, one of the voters will ask about an issue, Clinton spends part of her speech by ridiculing him for his scandals and then getting to how she can fix the issue, while Trump gets to the point (like a real New Yorker) and explains how he’ll resolve the issue. Then again, that’s probably far-fetched.
If Trump performs just as badly as he did on the first debate (or worse!), then Clinton can stop campaigning, because the outcome is determined on her favor. As for me, I’ll vote early, vote for Clinton and go to Binny’s beverage depot for Guinness Extra Stout and have no regrets on my pick. (Historically I’ve been good with predictions as to who will win elections, as a kid, I thought Bush would win in 2004, Obama for 2008 and 2012. Not sure why I was favoring Bush to win in 2004, but I was 10 at the time. I was a troubled child until High School.)
