This is a reminder to those of you with Night actions to be sure to get them to both Og and the FSM by the set time for Dawn (eight hours away) or lose the action.
Dawn might be delayed, depending on how clingy Morpheus is - but late Night actions didn’t happen.
I went to Target tonight. I wonder why they think they need to fill the whole store with christmas crap? Now, I appreciate the commerciality of christmas as much, if not more than the average person. (I certainly don’t believe in the religious aspects of it.) But, does every department need to be full of snowmen, santa claus and christmas trees? I mean really. There were socks, soap dispensers and sheets! Shampoo! (And those are only the things off of the top of my head that start with S.) Come on, enough is enough. I’m ok with the holiday section of the store, though I think that it having two sections the way this store does is a bit much, but does it need to bleed over into each and every department? Do people really buy more crap that they don’t need just because they see it all over the store??
In other news, the sun lit up on schedule. As the players filed into the game arena for the third Day of debate, they found Pedescribe lying broken and twisted, where he had landed after falling from the roof of the Charter Member house, apparently trying to hang some sort of mechanical reindeer. A notice on the House gate near where he lay announced a Christmas house-decorating contest.
Pedescribe, a dues-paying Charter Member (Town), has left the Island.
Nearby was a scene of carnage. It appeared that Nanook, in a surfeit of Holiday cheer, had decide that a Goat Vindaloo would go down well. He had raided the Initiation Goat’s pen for the necessary meat. The goat, a rather large member of it’s species, had fought back. What appeared to be a long-running fight ended when the Goat butted Nanook off a bridge near where Nanook had mostly lurked in game, resulting in death by drowning.
Nanook of the North Shore, a Troll (PFK) has met his own large Billy Goat Gruff.
Efforts to persuade the goat to return to its pen have so far been unsuccessful.
Day has started and will last until we tell you it ends.
Knew he was a Troll! Now the only question is whether he died via his own death mechanism (his vote didn’t count), or if we actually have a Vig on our side. The color of the death suggests the former.
While it sucks to lose Pede… it’s probably best not to have a more powerful pro-town role.
I think the death of Nanook is some good news for us. Of course, it remains to be seen as to whether he was Vigged or if he actually did have some kind of condition related to votes. I still think it’s an important distinction because determining if we have a Vig is important, but I think it’s unlikely since a Vig probably should have already outted himself.
So, while it’s on my mind:
**Oh great and glorious Og and FSM, may we please be bestowed with the names of the recently departed, so that we may remember them appropriately. Also, as it is customary, may we please receive some clue as to the inner workings of the troll so that we may have some way in which to determine exactly what he was doing and how he died. **
[Flashman]Brother! Oh, cruel, cruel world. How could they do this to you? Those murdering, bloodthirsty… To think they would target us. Aren’t we harmless, mostly? What did we ever do to them? Why, it could have been… that is to say any one of us could have… I mean of course Oredigger77 and I are very sorry for your loss, obviously, but on reflection, if one of us had to take the bullet, well, maybe it’s all for the best, old man. [/Flashman]
As far as Nanook’s death goes, either voting for himself didn’t count, or we’ve got a Vig, as **Blam **says. I don’t know if a Vig should out himself - it’s one more safe choice for a scum kill (he said selflessly) and we wouldn’t, I think, normally tell power roles what to do in any case.
Going back to yesterday’s votes: while there’s a fair bit of analysis to do on the voting, there is a major “curious incident of the dog in the night”. I don’t mean somebody pissed up a lamppost and then crapped on my flowerbeds: I mean that once **JSexton **was in the lead with most/all votes in, we then went the better part of 24 hours and two pages without a vote. In retrospect, that should have made it pretty clear that he wasn’t scum, because no-one was trying to save him.
… in the light of which, it’s interesting to me to note that following OK11’s post 907 (ignoring Nanook’s vote/unvote, effectively the last vote yesterDay) Santo Rugger posted 14 times but somehow failed to have a vote in at the end of they day.
Those posts were either back-and-forth with **OAOW **over whether town could have wholly negative roles, fluff with **Blam **or discussion about how to deal with **Nanook **toMorrow. Given that he’d said this:
JSexton claimed he needed a vote on him. He later voted for himself, claiming he could do that one time. If that were truely the case, then if no one voted for him today, he would die. Rugger was promoting puting this claim to the test. If JSexton were still alive after that, we’d know he was lying, and he’d be lynched.
Didn’t Santo’s earlier role claim require him to lynch scum in order to extend the da? While I’m less convinced of this mechanism’s pro-townieness (not in design, just in function, where we essentially have 48 hour days followed by a dusk with discussion and minor vote-wrangling), I can’t see how a player would give up the opportunity to be able to utilize such a role by not voting.
THere’s either got to be more to Santo’s roleclaim, or he’s lying about something.
You’re confusing JSexton with Nanook. Other than that, I still don’t see where you’re going with this. What does this have to do with Rugger not voting for any non-Nanook target?
I thought that Santo Rugger never confirmed or denied your win-more bonus idea. But otherwise, I agree that it’s interesting that he didn’t vote.
I’d also like to know why One And Only Wanderers kept his vote on me after I’ve already explained the unofficial vote thing. Was it because you didn’t believe my explanation, or did you have some other reason?
