SDMB mentioned in the Washington Post!

Yes, it’s true!

In an article on online literature we made the grade with that damn LOTR thread from last summer. We’re on page 5 of the article!

Are we big time or what?

And the debate is …?

Here is our mention in the link:

Congrats gonzoron; T-minus 14 minutes and counting!

Thanks for posting this, Jonathan Chance; I saw it too. And you know, because of that Dr. Seuss quote that they used, I remembered that 'Pit thread about the prehensile rectum that had a Seuss-like analogy in it - too bad the Post couldn’t have used that one, but understandably they couldn’t.

I think the guy who wrote that article needs to spend more time on the Dope, and less time on the rest of the net where all the illiterates are. Not using my brain indeed! I’m not laconic or overly rude, and my critical faculties are doing just fine, thank yew.

Maybe the sentences are getting shorter, but maybe that’s because people are putting large concepts into the least typing possible. I don’t necessarily think that longer sentences are better sentences.

Good one! I think this is my first time posting in MPSIMS, but that LoTR thread ROCKED! I can’t remember when I laughed so hard…

The Post (or, more accurately, Technews, since it was far easier to find a relevant email addy for them) have been emailed with a correction or three to their article. I can’t say as I am truly sad that Teemings got print-time instead of the board, though … as slow as things can be, with 40K more hits overnight I think the hamsters would have straight-up died.

Plus, y’know, Teemings sorta runs contrary to the rather insulting premise of the article (that we’re all a bunch of yokels what don’t know proper grammar’n’stufflikethat).

They’ll prolly check out the SDMB and look at a post from Bj0rn, killing that theory aborning.
