Hmmmmmm… Found a cat picture, but then I found something that might be even better – the eye of a horse who’d been rolling in spring mud.
In a house I used to live in (was burned in the fires a few years ago), I stepped out the back door to find a slug on a mushroom. Just had to get a picture of it from ground level, and up close. Sadly, I no longer have the original digital photo, managed to find a print of it in decent condition and scan it in. Had to have taken it 20 years ago at least, as my wife and I are celebrating our 18th anniversary tomorrow. Time flies…
My entry was previously used, but I still like it more than anything else I’m likely to come up with.
The same for mine. I actually went on my annual wildflower hike the weekend before last, where I always end up taking lots of macro shots of flowers. Except that weekend ended up being unseasonably chilly, and many of the flowers were closed up (the poppies in particular) and not much insect activity. I did get a few shots that I probably could have used, but none of them IMO as good as the one I used, which was my previous entry for the “bugs” theme.
I have a lot of good ones for this theme, but went with the water drops because:
- It’s different
- I haven’t used it before
Like most everyone else, I had so many past photos I could use, including flora and bugs. But I figured my best in those categories won’t be as good as what has been submitted (and still to come), so I went with one that, full-screen, made my wife say “Wow!”. Good 'nuff.
OMG, @Darren_Garrison! How did you get that precious baby to pose for you?
He was backed into a corner without much choice in the matter. I had a long-barreled camera practically jamed in his mouth.
It’s a superb shot. Nicely done!
You’re brave! He does have nice clean teefies though.
Heads up, today is the last day to enter the May contest.
mmm
May poll (maypole?) is open for voting.
mmm
Man, that was the hardest one yet. Every photo aced it. My long list was virtually the entire thread! I feel guilty that I could only vote for three.
j
Yes, there are a lot of good photos this month!
Had a hard time choosing. Everyone got at least one vote! Well played, Dopers, well played!
Congrats to @zimaaane!
We have had a new winner for each of the five contests thus far this year.
mmm
Welcome to June everyone. Congrats to @zimaane ! Looking forward to the next topic!
I am beyond stunned that my photo won in May! I wouldn’t have put my own photo in the top fifty percent.
But the people have spoken and my choice for the June 2025 contest is Colors Note the plural.
Thanks to everyone who paricipated and to the organizers.
