Added — probably should’ve said that at first, about how old that photo looked.
Surprising the print has survived 70 years in reasonably good condition. The camera was a Pony 828 using 828 film. That is the only photo I have from the roll.
…Thinking…Aha I have it. I was recently given photos from my late wifes’ collection. I must have sent her that print when I was a Cadet and it was then protected in an album. That was a safer place than my foot locker where the other prints met their fate.
Other photos I considered for my entry:
La Patrouille de France (So technically those are the colors of the French flag in this case). They were touring the US to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the US’s entry into WWI.
This one speaks for itself.
Finally got around to taking that picture I’ve been meaning to take, today.

Wow, that got off to a rapid start. I guess eye pictures are something that a lot of folks have lying around.
Although on the other hand, a photographer might plausibly have enough eye photos that it takes a while to pick out which one to use.

Forgive me if this question has already been raised and answered: is it permissible to withdraw one’s original entry and post a different one?
I don’t think that has come up before.
From my perspective it would cause trouble when it came to making the voting poll at the end of the month.
I would be ok with it if you could remove the first photo from the thread - I dunno, by breaking the link or deleting the image from the hosting site? You may or may not need a mod’s assistance.
If that can happen, I personally don’t have a problem with it.
I’ll leave it for others to weigh in on whether it should be allowed (only with disappearing first photo) as a general rule.

Oh, absolutely I’d delete the first entry if it were possible. Is it too late to delete my post? Or if a mod could deep-six the link with a note that the photo was being withdrawn, and I’d then do a new post with the photo I want to use. But if anyone objects, so be it. I can see it becoming a problem if it became at all common to do this. I’m fine with however it shakes out.
Just, I was looking at one of the cat photos I have framed and up on the wall and thinking, damn, I wish I’d picked that image instead.
