I wanted 1046 to go the distance. McGee’s comback is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen in the Dip world. I had a game where I was Russia and was down to 2 SCs in 1904 but roared back to 12 by the time the game ended, and we could have held Math Geek from getting the win as England if Austria had only done what I told her to do. I felt like the shit for that performance, and still do, to a degree, but McGee put me to shame with 1046. Absolutely amazing.
just watched the vid of the game - even without a knowledge of the diplomatic goings on its still impressive stuff.
ppg_shg you are my hero.
Well, you and the Duke Of Wellington.
For all intents and purposes, for me, the game was a fait accompli. The Iberian and Marseilles had been taken, the tide was turned in Scandanavia, Russia had built nc of St.P., England’s centers were going to fall.
However, as Shibb said, it was long and exhausting. It was 1917, and Russia and I were going to have to sail fleets into position, which was going to take even longer. In the end, I suppose I could have gotten a couple more SCs from England, grabbed Tunis, built, and then dashed over and snagged Warsaw, but that didn’t seem right given the continued support of Russia. I would have supported Russia to victory, but it just so happened that as the end game unfolded, the tactical advantage lay to the south, where the gains would logically go to Austria.
In the end, the script had been written, but the play didn’t need to be acted out. It was done. A DIAS was fair (especially to little Italy).
I actually meant in the thread. I’ve got the page bookmarked at home, but here at work I wanted to look at it. I looked for a link on the thread but I was just skimming. Too lazy I guess.
GUYS: Shibb started a thread for 1046 EOG discussion. Take it there!
I didn’t know that. Where is it?
Heah.
Has anyone been checking their mail?
Or have all my couriers been killed and nobody bothered to send back the heads.
Sheesh, with Austria away on vacation, you would think this would be the perfect time to plot.
I haven’t gotten anything from you.
nor me
and for the record i always send back the heads.
or at least a finger.
That and the fact that adjudication isn’t until tuesday. here I was thinking it was today.
Silly me.
you are obviously confused due to the russian calendar
Yes, that happens. Although, it’s terribly efficient.
I think all of Europe should use it.
I think I’ll take it around to show people.
hmmmmm no thanks - i’ve already got one.
It´s not vacation, it´s a working holiday. I´ll be in the office tomorrow so should get a chance to send a few notes out. I don´t recall having seen anything lately, though.
Still waiting on 2 sets of orders. You know who you are, lets get them in folks. Friday’s deadline still holds. Adjudication coming as soon as I get those orders.
Well, nix that.
A player has requested a delay due to real life getting in the way again. It’s been granted, and I’m setting a new deadline of Friday at Noon CST. Take advantage of the extra time folks, and if everyone manages to get me final orders I’ll adjudicate early (though no earlier than mid-day Thursday).
I’ll update the webpage with the other turns’ tenative dates as well, check there if you want advance notice.
Sorry about me delaying things, all. Suffice to say, my trip from Washington to Boston was delayed due to the blizzard.
Just sent my orders in.
You Italians just can’t handle a little snow, can you?
Have I mentioned the feet and feet of snow here in the glorious Motherland?
The promise of copious amounts of Russian Vodka more than makes up for it.
