SDMB Pet Peeves

Big Friggen egos. I’ve never understood why people can’t enjoy the board instead of making it a popularity contest.

Well, of course a wallflower like Sue would say such a thing. Makes sense to me

Nice to see you are perky this morning coldy m’dear

Seriously? I don’t. Although the practice can be overused (and I myself am guilty of said overuse), I find this type of quoting useful, so as to make clearer who is responding to what comment. Particularly in very long threads, it’s easy to get confused.

Oh, and please don’t nuke Culver City or Century City in your haste to nuke Monster’s chafed willy. (Insert heat seeking missle joke here)

Thanks for the compliment re my bard quotes!

Oh, and did you notice the guy who put five smileys in a four sentence post? Not to mention any names…

While Ask the Gay Guy! was a hoot, and Ask the Closeted Bi-Sexual was a funny spin off, I am so godammed tired of the Ask The… threads. If I have a question of a Doper, I will ask said Doper. I don’t need 15 nearly identical threads as incentive.

People that post before they think. It’s better to be thought a fool than to post and prove you are a fool.

I also think the board is to be enjoyed and not made into a popularity contest. Sure there will be some posters that people enjoy more than others, but I hate these posts where everyone wants everyone else to tell them how much they love them. Geeesh get a room. Feeding someone’s ego is not what the board is about.

I’m with DRY. I also find it useful to know what someone’s replying to. I don’t find it intrusive, although I prefer that your comment be longer than your quote.

The popularity contests do bug (mainly because I’m rarely to never mentioned)…they tend to have the same names in whatever lists are there, over and over again.

And, I hate to say it, but the flirting does bug, too. I don’t flirt, never really have flirted. It just isn’t my style. Watching people flirt, even if over the Net, is just a silly sight. Of course, this means I bug Chieffie because this chick doesn’t flirt. Ah, well. I’m cute, though! (look, I even avoided using the winkie-smiley!)
