I wish I could tell you that was my favorite plant, but(t) as I told Sunstone when he messaged me to talk about the species, the nickname was bestowed upon me by my beloved best friend Audrey. At lunch one day I told her that I would like to be reincarnated as a weeping willow after I die. I am a tall and skinny former ballerina with long, straight hair, so it seemed fitting.
Audrey looked me up and down and pronounced me “beaucarnea” species instead.
(Audrey now lives in Holland, and I miss her terribly, so I read about your trip eagerly. I hope to visit her this Fall.)
