I’d like to join up for a game next time one’s available. Can someone drop me a PM or should I go back through the thread for the info?
53 is where the link is. the password is cecil. you have to sign on and also go and register for the tournament as well.
i’m sure if you pmed any of the regular players or me if you need more information we can get back to you.
look forward to seeing you thursday.
The game is Thursday at 10:00 p.m., Eastern time.
We also do a chat room in AIM for comments on the game and just generally shooting the breeze. So have an AIM client running and logged in. In the poker room chat, give us your AIM handle and we’ll invite you to the room.

Would playing Poker off the Bicycle Casino game disc prepare me for the “real thing”?
Just asking, I don’t have two dimes to rub together.
Saw The Cincinatti Kid a few days ago, and it looked like he (Steve McQueen) had a book of some kind he was studying before the game that sunk him?
Thanks
Quasi
The UIGEA (or whatever) forced us off the real money sites, where we were reduced to playing for a penny a game, so we are now playing for play money only.
Some of us have read books; others haven’t. The only thing you really need to know in Hold’em is that you should play the players, not the cards. True in some part, anyway.
I’ve played the Bicycle Casino game (at least one version) and I’d have to say no, not really. It’s somewhat more realistic than other games I’ve played where the poker was pretty much bolted on, but it’s not really a poker trainer. I would suggest finding a copy of World Class Poker with T.J. Cloutier. I know the price says $20, but I found it for cheap once at Staples for like $5. It’s playable on both Windows and OS X, and the tips on what to do preflop and the situation quiz are both pretty helpful.
Ack! I can’t remember my PM username. Anybody got a hand history or screen cap?
No screenshot or hand history, but I swear I remember it is something like ‘Fish’.

Was it not Oslo Ostradonkey?
Why, I oughta…
I’ll get it to you later tonight in a PM.
Thanks. That was one variation I tried, but I still couldn’t sign in.
Do you need me to try to send you the password as well (assuming I can get access to it?)
Ast, I think we should have a backup in case you’re not available some week to set up the game. (Of course, if someone is a couple minutes late, let them miss out for the week.)
So, what’s necessary for any one of us to administer the game? Does the software run a server on my local machine, or does it just grant access to set things up on a server somewhere else? Get me up to speed. (or give me a jump start to start getting myself up to speed.)
the poor souls that will play tomorrow are already on my prayer list.
wait, watch and wonder.
i’ve got like a special secret strategy.
49.95 on paypal.
think about it suckers.
You run a server on your local machine. Once you’ve figured out the interface (it’s not too bad, but it’s rather complex because it’s customizable and all text) it’s not hard to set up. I can send complete settings to anyone who wants to run a backup to make it easier. It could get ugly if port forwarding and firewall exceptions need to be involved.
As for the late people, it’s been mentioned to me previously. There are a couple options. First, we can stick with the hard cutoff. If that’s not attractive, a second game could be set up on the fly. Another option is the ready button. I could set the game to start, say, at 10:10 with the ready button enabled. The game won’t start until a set number of people push ready or it is 10:10. Setting the requirements relatively high (say, all seated or all but 1 or 2 seated) would allow people to run a couple minutes late while allowing the game to get off faster if everyone is there.
Hey Ast, I haven’t had time to shrink my incredibly large noggin, so would you take it down for now?
And I will not be in tonight. TheKid has her choral concert.
