I hadn’t even thought of that, so I’m glad you did. That idea works for me.

How about everyone else? Are you all going to be able to read 200+ pages over the last two weeks of December?
After the new year we could see how people are doing and give everyone another week or two if need be.

If we go with Catch-22, I suggest we read up to the start of chapter 22 for the first discussion because the edition I have has 453 pages and chapter 22 starts on 225.

I’d be open to doing an OP for any other book as well, if it comes time to do it and nobody else wants to.

Yep. There are only three books on this list that I haven’t read and that I’m interested in reading. And some of those I have read are dreadfully dull…

I’d like to suggest that we officially begin reading* Catch-22 on Friday. That would give us two weeks until the 20th, when I can post the first OP on it.

Anyone like or dislike my idea of reading up to chapter 22 for the first half? I still think it seems like a good idea. I also think it’s a good idea to not read ahead of that point before the discussion, because I think the discussion for the first half of the book shouldn’t have anything about the second half, and even knowing about the second half affects the way we discuss the first half.
*Obviously you can read it whenever you want, but I like the idea of a suggested start date that goes along with the pace of the discussions.

With Catch-22 our clear leader, hopefully everyone interested has taken Talon Karrde’s suggestion to start on it, with the first OP coming on the 20th, and then biweekly, assuming the holidays don’t trip us up.

I will post a full schedule in this thread once the poll closes on 12/8.
