SDMB Short Fiction Contest, late 2011/early 2012 edition - Logistics Thread.

I found so many typos after I submitted despite taking a pass or two. I reedited but too late to resubmit. But I’m not planning on basing my vote on number of typos and I hope no one else is either.

Bugger! I only just found out about this. Clearly I need to spend more time in CS. Maybe next time I can enter…

You still have time - skip school/work, ignore the friends and family, take the Christmas tree down next month and write!

Sunspace, if I recall past contests correctly, even if you don’t have enough time before the deadline, you can still order the words and photo link, write your story, and send it in. It won’t be a part of the contest, but it will be available for commentary, which is always useful. Or who knows? You might just get inspired, and dash off your story in a few hours, thus submitting an entry within the time frame.

Regardless, I’d suggest you give it a try, contest or not. It would be nice to see what you can do.

Okay, I sent a message. We’ll see what I can write on Sunday morning.

Great! Looking forward to what you can do. Good luck!

Love the picture. Two directions writers might take occurred to me immediately. So, I discarded them for another one  Of course, at this point I haven’t yet written a word, though the plot is busily unfolding in my head.

I was awake for two hours after I sent the message, just thinking about it.

Today I found out that I have to work on Sunday. So I wrote my story this evening in 3.5 hours. I’m letting it rest a while, then I’ll reread it to see whether it’s still okay, before sending.

I was trying for something light and maybe a little funny, but it… didn’t turn out that way.

Letting it sit for a bit is always a good idea. Looking forward to it!

I’ve started the Anthology Thread at this link, and I’m slowly uploading the 13 stories I’ve received thus far.

Story is sent! I found a few typos and made a few adjustments. Hope you like it!

Story sent

I have boldly decided to use one of the words as a verb, though the definition in the dictionary doesn’t allow for it. From reading the word origin, however, it looks like it used to be a verb.

So now that all the stories are up, my predictions were:
Time Travel
Steampunk

Time travel, check. Took until the last entry to get a steampunk story, but it’s there
