I’m actually planning on leaving it to next weekend, so that I can go to town on editing, outlining, and some other stuff on my ‘to-do’ list this weekend. Then, the October contest will be a nice little warmup to get me into the ‘Writing new words’ mode before Nano begins!
Mine’s done and submitted, warts and all!
Oh crap.
Four hours to go.
The procrastination has worked it’s evil once more.
Halfway. Fingers crossed. Wait, no. That makes it hard to type.
Oh crap.
I really wish I understood Russian.
Me too!
I’m done and dusted. Now to sit back and enjoy the feeling that it makes no sense, is full of grammatical & spelling errors and is destined to be ignored.
Hurrah!
Okay, I emailed for my photo and three words. How long before I receive them? If the email comes at 11 p.m. tonight, I’m gonna lose some precious time!
I just saw this, double-checked gmail and found one message in the spam box. I moved it and manually replied with the words and photo. If that wasn’t you, could you please let me know and I’ll find another way to fix it? Many thanks.
Just sent my story in. Let me know if you get it or have any problems opening it.
Once again, thank you Le Ministre de l’au-delà for organizing these - I can imagine the work and time it takes for you to prepare these, get them, post them…I appreciate the effort!
I sent mine off last night. The only thing I have to say in its defense is that it incorporated all the words and the picture, and it was done by the deadline. It’s not my favourite child.
This time around, I am more interested in reading others’ contributions.
And thanks to Le Ministre, indeed!
I’m about to send off my story. It’s to the same address where we got to words and picture, right? If not, please let me know ASAP.
Yes, please, send it to the same address - that way, the time-stamps will tell whether you’ve finished within the time limit.
Catching up - I have received (and enjoyed skimming through) stories from myself, **Maggenpye, Savannah, DMark ** and Puddleglum. Still room for lots more, though…
Okay, the story is sent.
I did use italics in a few places, but if they don’t show it’s no big deal. Instead of printing italics I did [ I ] word *
I’m the champ in that.
Still a glutton for punishment here, but one of my intentions is to get better at this, so the feedback is great.
I was very sick and busy these days so I will make my contribution next weekend.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. I was lucky and had a four day weekend, so I could play here and still Get Stuff Done.
By the way, in case any of you are considering NaNoWriMo, here’s a different thread about it.
I’ve received one more story since the last mention, making six.
Le Ministre de l’au-delà

The words were easy this time, but working in that picture was…difficult.
Just a quick bump - still plenty of time for anyone to join in and take a stab at writing a short story!
Come on - give it a go! You get a photo, three words to throw into the story, and 60 hours to run with it. Newbies welcomed!
And the winner gets to go to Cecil’s private island for a week, with full use of the staff and ski boats and 90 ft yacht!*
- Well…that part is a lie, but then again, this is a FICTION contest.
Hey, fellow writers!
Thanks, DMark - I meant to send in my email around 11 this morning, so that I could mull over the words and picture at work, but things were a little busy and I forgot about it until I saw your post. (Not busy enough to not snatch a few idle moments browsing the Dope while I ate lunch. )
Anyway, I’ve thought of a basic plot, worked up a full ‘Internal/External Goal, Motivation, Conflict’ chart for my main character, and written the first 400-odd words. Whoo-hoo.
Also sent for the package yesterday, the basic plot is also done, and I do some research, now trying to make the plot and info fit under 2000 words; this always happens to me, my tales go longer than expected and then when I have to shorten them to fit, a lot of sense goes out. I think a few contests ago I even removed one of the required words in one of the purges and it did cost me votes then.
I hope to send the smaller beast tomorrow.
The Anthology Thread is up and running, and I’m (slowly, I grant you) adding the stories I’ve already received.
Still 35 hours left to enter!!
