Why is the SDMB so slow lately, and why does it take more than a half-day for posting notifications to be e-mailed?

  1. Folks who’ve done without the board for weeks are suddenly gushing out all those pent-up posts.

  2. Moderators are carefully piecing together the rubble of the old board, while at the same time trying to cope with the latest version of the software.

  3. Although the old board was creaking at the seams during peak hours, The Sponsoring Paper (peace be upon them) underestimated the volume of traffic the new board is generating.

  • I am not one of the frazzled moderators, myself, so my answers should not carry the weight of authority. Let us be patient and hope for the best. My own optimism ranges between, (a) "It will get better soon, " to (b) “I’ve knitted a really nice pair of woolen mittens for the Devil.”
