SDMB Weight Loss Club, September

Ah, that’s okay. I’m not really wanting to pay retail for jeans until after my tummy tuck anyway. For now, my men’s jeans are 38X32, which is an easy size to find in the thrift stores.

Speaking of jeans, though, this past few months have been the first time in the history of our 20+ year relationship that I’ve worn smaller jeans than my hubby!

sigh A thin woman can wear anything.

But I can almost fit into that!

Also: enough with the steaming and boiling and microwaving. Saute, roast, broil, grill and bake them!! High heat cooking will bring out much better flavors.
Pot O’ Veg: cut up celery, carrots, onions, red peppers, leeks, potatoes, squash, green beans (or any other beans you like, canned or otherwise cooked, beans are jsut about the best thing in the world you could ever eat for a dozen reasons) and whatever other veges float your boat, though I would recommend staying away from anything in the cabbage family for this one (broccoli, brussells, cabbage) due to the high potential for stinkiness which can ruin everything for some people.

Dump in a big pot. Splash and toss with olive oil, soy sauce and pepper. Also throw i some WHOLE garlic cloves. Cover. Put in the oven at 325-350. Check on them every 15- 20 minutes, gently rearranging them each time you check. They will be steaming in their own released liquids at first. When they are getting more done, take the lid off to get rid of some of that liquid, and check more frequently. I actually jack up the heat some and let some carmelization occur, but you should experiment to see what you like.

When it is done to my satisfaction, I let it cool and refrigerate, and I just microwave a big scoop of it with whatever else I’m eating, and sometimes that’s all I’m eating. (Make sure to go light on the potatoes, use waxy boilers, and cut them smaller.)

It’s fabulous. And I caution you not to over season it! The soy and pepper is really all you need, the veges themselves, (especially the onions, garlic and peppers, of course) are MUCH more flavorful prepared this way. Try it before you start adding anything else.

I had a great week here. I was off work an extra day this week, so I was able to get an extra walk in and it really paid off. I found out at weigh-in this morning, that I had lost 6.2 lbs, bringing my total to 100.2 lbs lost since last November!

It hasn’t been easy, but I did it! I was hoping to reach this goal soon. I wanted to be losing in the triple digits before Gettydope IV.

I just did a search on the January 2007 thread so I could remember my starting weight this year…179.5. My original goal was to lose 10 lbs by March 1. Ha! Guess I didn’t make that goal.

But I would like to impress my in-laws when I see them on October 22 by not being 185 lbs like the last time I was there and I think I’ll easily accomplish that becase, welll, I’m not 185 anymore.

165 is my goal by October 22.

Last night I did not drink on the gig. I also didn’t eat when we got home. That is a bit of progress for me. So I was rewarded today by…a slightly higher number  but it’s OK. My average is still traveling downward.

Wow, that’s awesome!

I am astoundingly proud of you, my Amish friend. So very very proud.

Thanks folks! I am very happy so far. It’s been a lot of work, but so very much worth it.

The next 80 lbs will be just as much of a goal as the first 100, ten pounds at a time…

Here is the October thread.

Good luck losing!

“Thin” isn’t a word I’d use in connection with myself. The best I can hope for at this point is “not freakishly fat”.
