First of all, ths shitstorm has drawn out at least 2 others, who may have contributed.

Many “Ask the …” threads are from pretty unique perspectives, that is what makes them interesting.

We also will never know if the thread might have brought out some of the professionals in the field now will we?

That is the problem with stopping a line of discourse before it starts. It might start off here, but move over there where it is more comfortable.

And if you don’t want to read the thread, then simply don’t read it. It was clearly labeled, wasn’t it?

This is a very strange post. Aoparently you’re craving more details than your friends-who-are-mental-health-professionals can provide, but the specifics of other people’s mental illnesses aren’t fodder for you to study as some kind of hobby. If Cesario is mentally ill, as you assert, do you not see how it might be contraindicated for him to describe his illness in a public Q&A, in a forum where he has already worn out his welcome with respect to the issue?

Those are fair questions, but actually, here in the US, there are are entire industries devoted towards people volunteering their mental health issues for the public for entertainment if not for hobby, so that assertion falls flat.

I don’t know Cesario, and I don’t have a therapeutic, or any relationship with him. He can disclose or not disclose as he sees fit, and that is that. I can also take what he says with a large grain of salt, and I would.

As I am not a mental health professional myself, no, I can’t judge whether his discussing himself here or anywhere is “contra-indicated”. Unless you are treating him, I don’t see how you could make that judgment on a solid basis one way or the other either.

To me, he is just some guy discussing himself. We had 2 others at least just this week announce similar feelings. I can’t control what they want to and do share, but I can take note of it as interesting if they do, and to collect it as a personal observation, just like anything else if I find it noteworthy enough.

Sure, the internet, tv, radio, all media are filled with people who we have to say - what the fuck were they thinking when they decided to do or share that? I find those people fascinating on some level. So sue me.

In case you think I’m unsympathetic to mental health issues, you can check out the recent Pit thread (re: I saw a loser who made me so mad) where someone pitted a depressed guy who had been venting in MPSIMS. I was one of many people who went into that thread repeatedly to say that it was wrong to be pitting that guy, in part because depression is a life-threatening disease.

So I suppose there is a case to be made that if Cesario is mentally ill, it’s unfair to Pit him. But Cesario doesn’t think there is anything wrong with his thinking or feelings or world view, and unlike the depressed guy in MPSIMS, he shows no signs of having a potentially life-threatening depression problem. People here have already suggested to Cesario that there’s a problem with his thinking and he should get some professional help. Seriously, I don’t know what more we could do for him on this issue.

IM (limited) E, I think this board is all over the place on that. There was a case once where I was the one to suggest to someone whose life was clearly at risk get additional help then had been gotten before since what was before hadn’t been working out and was piled on the same way as here. Thattiem I was told by others to leave it alone, let the poster do as s/he wishes, and here it is the opposite. Doesn make me a hero or anyone else out to be the bad guy, but that is my experience - the crowd reaction kind of just depends, no rhyme or reason I can discern.
