When we had the former format one could search for thread topics by using a search function and adding desired search words, kind of like Google. I have never really learned how to use this new format as well, cand someone tell me how to, say, search for threads with certain words in the title?
I’ve not had good luck using the search by word. I’m more successful if I know the name of the poster.
It’s still a crap shoot if they have a huge posting history.
Good luck.
Do a search but choose “advanced search” (far right menu icon in the search box), and choose the box in front of:
“Only return topics/posts…”
“Matching in title only”
Or to make it easier, just type “in:title” at the end of whatever you’re searching for and it does it without having to go deeper into options.
So, if I want to find threads that specifically mention defenestration in the title, I just search for:
defenestration in:title
It gives me 7 threads as a result.
I am ashamed to admit this, but although I have looked for the search box I can’t find that either.
It’s the magnifying glass icon at the top of every page.
Since this is about how to use Discourse’s software, let’s move this to Site Feedback (from ATMB).
Thank you so much!!! This is giving me what I was looking for!
