And Craftsman tools weren’t shitty. It’s easy to have a great warranty when the product doesn’t break.
Lowes owns(?)/sells Craftsman now, and will honor the warranty on old Sears Craftsman tools. I took in some 30 year old US made Craftsman screw drivers with bent and stripped tips, and they replaced them with the same size modern foreign made screwdrivers.
As I understand it, all a ruling in your favor means they owe you the money (or service). Doesn’t really include any way to actually COLLECT that.
As far as extended warranties: with appliances being so craptastic in general these days, and a repair being most of the cost of a new machine, I’m more of a fan than I used to be. Our current dishwasher had major problems during the extended warranty period (and has now died after 7 years). We’re shopping for a new one, and the extra hundred bucks is worth it for peace of mind.
