I know there was an ongoing thread about The Good Place when it first came out as a series, but I wanted to talk about the entire first season as a whole …
Wow! I’m blown away. I have to say when this first popped up on Netflix, the description just didn’t interest me at all … and I have zero interest in Kristen Bell as a performer.
But really good job. And I’m so glad I didn’t know anything about this going in, because the twist in the season closer was 100 percent a surprise to me. I just did not see it coming. And even after Eleanor said it, I didn’t think it was real until Michael’s expression went all villain-y.
The acting was really good, especially Ted Danson and William Jackson Harper. Manny Jacinto played a dumbbell so well I really wanted to slap him every time I saw his face.
I’m really impressed with Ted Danson’s late career. I was not a fan of Cheers and I didn’t understand why it was so popular, and I really wasn’t impressed by Danson’s performance on that show. But since then … Curb Your Enthusiasm, Bored to Death, and now this show, really loving it.
And Jameela Jamil (Tahani)! My heart flutters for thee … . Loved Eleanor’s repeated references to how tall and hot she was. … Tiya Sircar (Real Eleanor) representing for my ethnic group (Bengali)!
Kristen Bell really nails her role for the lead character, very well cast. I really can’t think of a bad performance in this show.
Brilliant! If this doesn’t get a second season, it really is a very well-done story, even if it ends in kind of a cliffhanger.
