And coincidentally they all know the song “I Know Where I’ve Been” from Hairspray well enough to be able to harmonize and be off-book with little to no rehearsal.
This would be a really interesting one for Mythbusters to take on.

Speaking of singing transgender characters, it was recently announced that Darren Criss will be taking over the lead role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway this spring.
Not that any of the characters are particularly well-developed, but it’s surprising how little we know about Blaine. His brother was on one episode, but we know nothing of his parents other than they’re apparently about as far removed from helicopter as you can get for their kid not to be in foster care. At one point there was a rumor that Lea Salonga would play his mother, but that was back when they had a couple of the writers who still remotely gave a damn.
So if you could only see one butt nekkid on the finale, would it be Chord Overstreet, Darren Criss, or another cast member?
Max Adler. God, Max Adler…
IIRC, the only thing we’ve ever been told about Blaine’s parents on the show is that his father wasn’t as accepting as Burt was of Kurt when Blaine came out, and that was way back in season two.
I’ve suspected since season three that Blaine killed his parents when they refused to let him change schools to be with his boyfriend, and has been Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane-ing it ever since. But I have heard that Blaine’s mother (or the actress he’s hired to play his mother so no one will suspect that the real Mrs. Anderson is rotting in the basement) is supposed to show up soon. I’ll spoiler this in case anyone case, but the role will reportedly be played by Gina Gershon
Naya Rivera, but if you mean of the guys then I’d probably go with Harry Shum.
Ooh…I forgot about Harry. Can I have Harry AND Max, preferably … well, no. It’s broadcast, not cable…
That guy a few seasons ago who duped Rachel into thinking he liked her.
Mike Chang can’t sing that well either; this was a more-or-less running gag.
Speaking of singing well, I wonder if the transgender choir did its own singing. Usually, except for (The) New Directions, choirs that appear on the show don’t do their own singing (one notable exception: when the Yale Whiffenpoofs portrayed a competing choir at Nationals), but I read that the search for the transgender choir members was nationwide, and I assume they could have easily gotten 300 transgender people from the Los Angeles area if they didn’t need them to do their own singing.
Except for when he could sing just fine, like in West Side Story (one of their best episodes, imho); consistency isn’t one of GLEE’s strong points.
IIRC they did say on the show that Mike had been working on improving his singing, which was presumably true of Harry Shum as well. He and Heather Morris were both cast for their dancing ability and I don’t think either had any real previous experience as singers.
The real question is how Mike managed to improve his voice in-universe, as his parents didn’t seem like they would have been willing to arrange for private lessons and Will never actually taught his students anything about singing.

He probably paid for them himself. None of the kids seem to have any shortage of cash; even Santana, from West Lima Heights Annex, can pay for plane flights at a moment’s notice. And in a small town that nevertheless has two high schools, a large mall, and a sheet music store, it’s probably not hard to find a voice coach. (Or maybe Stephen Tobolowski’s character coaches him for free in exchange for groping.)
I think George RR Martin is the only person who could salvage this wedding episode.
With the exception of Brittany’s parents, I thought the Brittany/Santana part of the wedding was pretty good. I liked that they (finally) acknowledged that same-sex marriage isn’t even recognized in Ohio, because that’s been bothering me since Santana proposed. I did wonder where Santana’s father was, though. He’s been mentioned in passing before so he’s presumably not dead, and it certainly seemed strange that he wouldn’t bother to attend his daughter’s wedding when even his homophobic mother was there. Quinn was also conspicuously absent.
If, as I suspect, Ryan Murphy came into the writer’s room while they were working on this episode and said “Oh yeah, Kurt and Blaine need to get married in this one too, so make sure that happens” then I suppose they did their best at trying to shoehorn in the wedding of a couple that wasn’t even dating when the episode opened. It didn’t really make sense and seemed like a terrible, terrible idea for all involved, but it sure was a thing that happened in this episode.
I totally called it on Blaine hiring an actress (or possibly a stripper) to impersonate his murdered mother, though. Surely we weren’t meant to believe that Blaine’s actual mother traveled – without her husband – to the out-of-state wedding of friends of her son who as far as we know she hadn’t even met before and then barely reacted when this unexpectedly became a double wedding for her son and the guy who broke up with him six months ago. We did learn that “Mrs. Anderson” had never met Carole and Burt before, as I believe her only line in the entire episode was introducing herself to them.
I was pleasantly surprised that Mike had a sane reaction Tina’s desperate, misguided proposal. I believe this was at least the fourth desperate, misguided proposal that has occurred on Glee, but Mike was the first one to refuse.
I still think it would’ve been a great finale if Vocal Adrenoline had shown up, sealed the exits, and begun singing a dance remix of RAINS OF CASTAMERE.
Apparently Sue had taken out a marriage license for Klaine in whatever state they were in and neither figured they would have any relatives who wanted to attend who weren’t already there.
I can’t see Gina Gershon without thinking “At least according to Wilma, you are a major reason why Obama is president…” and wondering how things would be different had Bill kept it in his pants.
I’m going to miss these threads. I stopped watching after the horribleness of season two (really? You spend all of that money to go to New York without a set-list? You’re from Podunk, OH and still treated like social outcasts? Never mind that if someone does anything whatsoever in a small town they’re celebrated to the heavens) but I enjoy reading this train-wreck commentary.
So thank you.
At this point it would not surprise me if, in the four weeks this show has left to go, Kurt and Blaine realize they aren’t in fact legally married, break up, get back together again, and have ANOTHER wedding.
LOL!
The Klaine surprise wedding was so glee (I don’t mean that as a compliment). So I was pleasantly surprised when Mike refused Tina’s marriage proposal (more glee Season 1 like? When things mostly made sense). Maybe the writers are just checking everything off - transgendered choir, check; gay wedding? check x2.
Was anybody else expecting Mike Chang to come out as Gaysian?
Speaking of, IRL Kevin McHale went with Naya Rivera to choose her wedding gown and bridesmaid gowns. That’s roughly the same as coming out, isn’t it?
I was also surprised to read an interview where Matthew Morrison, Chris Colfer, and Darren Criss all were glad before when they called off the Klaime wedding because they think the characters are way too young and immature to get married. I think by this time all of the actors are just cashing the checks. (I’m curious to see if Colfer’s career in front of the camera continues when the show goes off.)
So if Bieste and Unique hooked up, would that be gay, straight, lesbian, or just far from the worst plotline they’ve come up with?
I was expecting him to have some sort of dramatic reason for refusing Tina, and was rather relieved when it turned out that he was simply the only character on this show with the sense not to jump into a hasty marriage with their high school sweetheart.
I remember seeing an interview with Chris Colfer where he said that (unlike his character) he didn’t know all that much about fashion IRL but Kevin McHale did, and that he always let McHale see Kurt’s designer outfits because he was interested in that sort of thing.
I’ve wondered about his future in Hollywood as well. He’s reportedly been cast as young Noel Coward in an upcoming biopic, but I don’t know if this is a project that’s definitely going forward or not. I think Colfer is one of the better actors on the show* and is certainly talented enough to be in other things, but I’d assume that if he’s getting many offers at all that they’re mostly supporting roles as the heroine’s Sassy Gay Friend.
His children’s book series has done well, so he may choose to focus on writing instead of acting.
*IIRC, aside from guest stars he and Jane Lynch are also the only Glee cast members to have won major acting awards for their work on the show – he has a Golden Globe and she has a Golden Globe and an Emmy.
Apparently Jonathan Groff is coming back as Jesse in the final few, because there aren’t enough character plotlines to wrap up without bringing somebody from years ago back.
