Seasonal foods

Did you know Mallomars are only made in the fall?

I hadn’t realized it until I saw the announcement that they were back again.

Are there other foods like that?

I read that mallomars are only made in the fall because they melt so easily. That’s probably less of a problem now that stores are all air-conditioned, but I like sticking with some silly traditions just for the heck of it.

Other foods like that? Hmm.

Do they still only sell apple cider in the fall?
That’s the only time I notice it, even now.

Are we talking MAKING, or SELLING? Because BlackJack gum and Adams Clove Gum (which I LOVE) only seem to show up during Christmas. I don’t know when they’re made, however.

Sponge candy, which is a fairly uncommon regional candy, isn’t made in the summer. Halloween - Easter is the usual season. I guess it’s a throwback to the days before air conditioning, but the molassas won’t set properly in warm weather.

Even though I don’t like to eat them, I always get a kick out of seeing the commercials announcing the return of the Cadbury Creme Eggs. That rabbit just cracks me up.

They make apple cider in the fall, since that’s when the apples ripen–you make it out of the scuzzy looking ones that nobody would buy otherwise.

If we’re talking about seasonal food to eat, I like hot spiced apple cider and glazed donuts in the fall–I’d take some home tonight, but I’d be lucky to get even one.

Hey! I live BlackJack Gum.

Candy Corn (which I hate) seems to be seasonal. Raspberry hard candies seem to be around during Thanksgiving/Christmas. Lemonade seems to disappear from menus after Summer is over. “Angle Wing” cookies are in stores around Christmas and Easter only.

By the way, I see BlackJack and Adams Clove Gum around all year. Teaberry gum, on the other hand, I can never find during the Winter.

Morel mushrooms and fried green tomato, both amazing tastes.Want a taste of heaven?..eat a Morel.

Bock beer used to be more seasonal than it is now. The traditional time for bock is during lent, however it is now nearly October, and I’ll wager I can find bock on tap at some local tavern.

Hey GreatKingRat, ever tried a hen-of-the-woods? Almost as good as morels, and they grow in the autumn!

Found out a few Easters ago that you can’t get cranberries in the spring.
