Second shot and the side effects

On the flip side, my anecdote is that my reaction was noticeably worse than most of my friends had. I had bad chills and exhaustion for a good day after each of my 3 Moderna shots. Most of my close friends had Pfizer and had almost no reaction.

I just finished a bout with actual COVID, and shared it with one of my no-reaction friends. I had a very mild case. My friend, who I gave it to, had a much worse time with it.

We’re both over it, other than lingering coughs and such. But anecdotally, my stronger reaction to the vaccine might have correlated with an easier time with the disease.

Or maybe it’s all coincidence.

That actually gave me some unease.

Yes, it was nice not feel cold/flu-ish for a couple days after the shot(s). But the whole and entire point of vaccines is to raise an immune reaction safely, so you’re primed for the real thing when it arrives. Lacking that reaction, was I really as primed as I needed to be?

Here a year-ish later I’ve not yet contracted COVID that I know. Every time I’ve felt ill I’ve tested and come back negative.

It’s good to be lucky. Until that famously fickle lady walks out on you. Fingers duly crossed.

So which one did you have?

Ref my own post 2 above …

And now in July 2022 I’ve finally caught COVID. Which now 4 days in has been very mild. As I’ve said to some folks, I’ve had far worse hangovers than this.

So I ended up with three Moderna shots, each with negligible side effects, and one infection with mild symptoms that by day 3 was already receding albeit gradually.

Lucky me. Would that everyone had such a pleasant ride through this pandemic.
