Second trimester sonogram results!

File this under “Momentous Precious Stuff I Must Share”.

I’m baaaaack…I went back to lurking for a while because I was getting logged out a lot, and it was getting quite annoying. Plus I was still having some nausea occasionally. And when I was feeling oogy I was in bed and totally ignoring the computer.

So anyway, we had a sonogram about a month ago and
and…
and…
IT’S A GIRL!!!

Everything looks good, everything was in the right place. This was at 18 weeks, and she weighed 9 oz. Probably weighs close to a pound now! A sonogram is a truly amazing thing- we got to see her spine and her kidneys and her brain and watch her heart beating…and they check for so much. The technician would move the transmitter across my belly and we could see parts of her, and then the tech would keep the transmitter still for a moment to measure something, and we could see the baby moving! I could have watched it all day. We got lots of cute pictures, but some of them are a little blurry because she was so active. We got one of the lower part of her face with her mouth open!

I’m 23 weeks along now, and the baby is still very active. My husband finally felt her move a couple weeks ago, and in the evenings I pull up my shirt and we watch “The Belly Show”. We were watching tv (and her) and eating crackers the other day, and I put a cracker on my stomach next to my bellybutton and said, “Here you go, baby.” and a moment later she kicked the cracker! I know it was probably just chance that she did that, but it was still funny.

It’s amazing how much more connected I feel, to the pregnancy and to my husband- seeing her moving on the screen, and feeling her move, brought it home to me and made the pregnancy so much more real. I didn’t know it was possible to love someone you haven’t even met yet! I can’t wait to see her for the first time. They changed my due date from January 5, 2003 to Jan. 2. We’ll see!
So now I am going to pick all of you Doper’s brains about baby stuff, and what’s best and what’s your favorite- I’ll be starting a couple threads in IMHO.

Oh, how exciting!!!
My last (#4) baby was my first girl, and man! what a shock that sonogram was to this confirmed “boys only” mom.
Now I can’t imagine how I got along without her.
She will be a joy in your life and a balm to your heart.
Best,
karol

wow, cool!

thank heaven for little girls…

Funny… My wife became pregnant after a late-night game of “kick-the-cracker”, if you know what I mean.

We’re supposed to find out our baby’s gender in two weeks.
