Yep. Hate-watching on my side, too. So far, this has been a waste of time and talent.
Yeah, this is not good. I thought they could not possibly make Rhodey a skrull, that would be too obvious. Besides he did make good points and Fury’s whole “imma take care of this by myself” plan sounded ridiculous. Sad to see Talos go, mostly because i liked him in Captain Marvel, but a second fake out death to end an episode would make me quit watching.
The thing is, Talos is supposed to be this great General. He was the leader of their people. How did he get so stupid. He’s been in and around humans for 30 years. He’s seen them at their best and worst and he KNOWS the truth of them. And if he didn’t, the person who he trusted to help him establish a home flat out told him “Humans are trash, some might accept you but you will always be THEM and the first to take blame” – especially with the shapeshifting ability. There would always be suspicion, there would always be doubt and people calling for their extermination.
Gravik’s idea is just as dumb, though. Let’s make this planet an irradiated hellhole and then we can live in peace without the humans. Well, OK, dumbass, but how are you going to EAT? Growing food in an irradiated hellhole is going to be difficult. And all those other species are going to die out as well.
The new Skrull abilities are neat, though. Why not take those and use them to re-establish themselves on their home planet instead of fighting a long and drawn out war of attrition with the humans?
Those are pretty neat, and I love how they used viable alternatives that match the fantastic 4 powers the super skrull is supposed to have.
Nah, I heard it’s still going and that Rhodey is going to be a main character, for whatever that says about what will happen in this show, or if it’s a different timeline or in the past.
Well they have established that the people they replace aren’t killed. They put them in those slots so they can take their memories to better impersonate them. So I suspect a rescue will happen.
So let me get this straight - most humans don’t know the Skrulls exist, but if they did. they’d discriminate against them, and therefore humans are evil and need to be destroyed. Furthermore, despite the fact that the Skrulls are a spacefaring race, Nick Fury, a person not known for his ability to explore space, somehow bears sole responsibility for finding them a new planet, and the fact that he hasn’t means that humans are evil and need to be destroyed. Did I miss something?
Conclusion: the Skrulls are dicks. I hope they all die.
That’s always been their role in the comics. Since, at least, Black Panther, the MCU seems to want its villains to elicit a “well, he kinda has a point” response.
If they’re trying to do that here, then they’ve failed completely.
Thus far, the only redeeming feature of the series is Nick Fury’s wife. Which means she’ll probably die dramatically at some point.
Carol Danvers is supposed to find the new planet. Nick’s job is just to manage them while they’re on Earth and maintain communication with Danvers.
Plus, he’s formulaic and one-dimensional. Easily the dullest MCU villain yet, and not even up to the standards of a third-tier Bond nemesis.
True, this whole mess is mostly her fault. She should never have sided with the Skrulls against the Kree - the Kree may be evil, but as it turns out, so are the Skrulls. A plague on both their houses.
So where is she? Why isn’t she fixing this?
I’m feeling vaguely uncomfortable with the concept of a minority group of lizard(ish) shape-shifters being the secret puppet-masters behind global events. Are they going to turn out to be very influential in the finance and entertainment industries too?
And both in this, and the Falcon & WS series, the main baddie is just too lacking in charisma to be a convincing leader (in a guerilla war scenario especially).
Kingsley Ben-Adir, besides having the greatest name in show business (at least if you know some Hebrew), is actually a good actor - he was excellent in the second season of the hugely underrated The OA. He’s just a victim of very bad writing.
Do you think David Icke will have a cameo?
That would be acceptable if they had a scene where he literally shits himself, preferably on-air, as he realises he was right all along.
And the series might redeem itself if it finishes with a deepfake King Charles giving a Skrull wink to the camera.
See, at least that was answered: because it’s personal. Fury wants to show he can take care of things himself, even if that means risking the annihilation of humanity.
When the blip happened Danvers was basically the only one keeping shit together throughout most of the universe, she didn’t have time to look for a new planet. Plus Fury was gone.
That whole “I don’t need help; it’s personal” is definitely a cliché but I can kind of see why Fury changed his mind on the need for Superheroes. The Avengers didn’t work out like he hoped (they created Ultron and had a Civil War. They also failed to save us from Thanos the first time). His Recruitment of Carol Danvers didn’t really work out either (she was mostly MIA when he needed her). I am not saying I agree but I can see why he rethought his opinions on this particular subject.
