Seeking Information on Old Camping Song

I have a vague recollection of a camping song and wonder if anyone knows the whole thing, has music, whatever. It’s one of those songs where, when you get to the chorus part of the group echoes the lead, hence the bits in parenthesis.

Here are the lyrics I recall

The ricket and do (the ricket and do)
Now what is that? (now what is that?)
It’s something made by the Princes Pat
It’s red and gold, and purple too
That’s why it’s called the ricket and do.

In addition to Princess Pat there was also something about a Captain Jack who came to grief in the Bering Strait or the Bering Sea because he didn’t have a ricket and do. Whatever that is (and I have no idea if I spelled it correctly).

There were some hand gestures that went with the ricket and do description, but other than one of them forming a square I don’t really recall them.

Anyone else remember this one?

And, as usual, something that has stumped me for years is answered in one post by the Dope. Why I even bother trying to remember things on my own…?

Although there was that one SF short story no one else seems to remember or be able to place…
