Seemingly overlooked SDMB gems.

The perennial “What are your favourite threads?” threads tend to focus on those that stayed at the top of the forum for weeks, went for pages and pages, garnered five-figure views, have been linked to all over creation, repeatedly resurrected throughout the ages before being finally put down (by a seemingly-regretful and apologetic mod,) and are pretty much well-worn and familiar to all but our newest members.

This is totally natural and predictable, of course – but I know everyone’s got quiet little favourites that might never have made it to page two and vanished after a brief flash, never to be mentioned again.

I was recently reminded of Ilsa_Lund’s What if Dr. Seuss had been written by someone else? – the memory of which is of course obscured by the glory of its titanic forebear If LOTR had been written by someone else?

I recall this ill-fated thread so fondly (the e.e. cummings & H.P. Lovecraft contributions, especially) but it never lived up to its potential and vanished in less than two days.

Which nearly-forgotten threads do you guys recall that “coulda been a contender?”

This thread, started by poster D18, is one of my all-time favorites.

The OP of this one: funny thread, by lno - especially the last item - had me laughing for ages.

Read the top-mentioned thread and just about died at the E. E. Cummings entry.

I will remove the spork from your neck when I receive my potato wedges.

And yea, the Child of Filth Did Arise
