I’ll admit, even though this has always been one of my favorite episodes (and it was on last night, btw), I didn’t realize the true scope of its genius until I finally watched JFK last month. I hadn’t realized that Wayne Knight (Newman) was in the movie and was the guy Kevin Costner used to demonstrate the magic bullet theory on in the courtroom, which of course just blew my mind (“You just blew my mind!”) into hysterics.
That was total improvision on Jason Alexander’s part. Estelle Harris, the actor playing his mother, had such a laughing fit shooting had to stop for five minutes.
Yep. They also did a Basic Instinct parody later on in The Package (better known as the Timeless Art of Seduction episode where George poses for those cheesecake pictures) and Newman is interrogating Jerry on suspicion of mail fraud. Wayne Knight was in that movie also.
The one where George is getting his picture taken, with him posing on a couch in just his underwear. (I think his gf wanted them.) The only time that the photographer takes the pic is when some pretty boy is leaning over George to grab something and it looks like a photospread for BlueBoy or something like that.
The one where Elaine has a really, really sensitive boyfriend. All of his friends come over, they have a group hug. Some topic is introduced, and Elaine gives her bf one of her pushes, says “Get out of here” as she often does. The guy falls on the ground like some wuss, and the other friends accuse her of viciously assaulting the guy. Funnier on the show than here.
I think that was the Bizarro World episode. Her three new friends were just like Jerry, George, and Kramer, except that they were smart, literate, and considerate. There was even a Bizarro World Newman.
