Or something is weird, anyway. My default browser is Firefox, it has all my up-to-date bookmarks, and until today it happily opened any website page I asked it to.
Today, however, it wouldn’t open Webshots, either in a specific link to one of my albums – an example – or the home page. I got in okay in Internet Explorer.
So, does anyone have any idea what’s going on? My other bookmarks in Firefox work fine.
Wouldn’t open as in, clicked on the bookmark and absolutely nothing happened or did you get an error (404, 408 etc) screen?
When you opened Fx instead of your homepage it was just a blank screen?
Sorry, I should have included this info. It was late; I was sleepy. :smack:
I get a screen with the usual toolbars, including the Firefox tab for the page, a white blank, and in the bottom gray strip the word “Done” in the left-hand corner. It’s as if the browser’s opened the page but is showing none of its content.
Version 2.0?
Other places open ok on that same browser?
Is the URL correct in the addy bar, check especially for a hidden space at the very beginning.
Check the stored URL for missing or hidden things if the browser works OK on all the other pagers.
It comes up OK for me. ( 98se, wild blue satellite, version 2.0, Linux box)
On your 'example link I get a lot of Pumpkin & Peanuts.
I believe it’s version 2.0, on Windows XP Pro, Dell Dimension 4600 with an upgraded hard drive (300+ gigs). I’ve always clicked “Yes” on Firefox’s updates. So far any other site opens okay. I’ve tried copying the working link from the IE URL bar and pasting it into the Firefox URL bar – nada.
One interesting note: I imported my Firefox bookmarks into IE and some (not all) of them fail as invalid addresses.
If the tab says “(Untitled)” that’s the normal blank Ff window with no web page selected.
Your last post gives me a clue, did you start with Ff V1.5 or earlier?
If you did, did you recently get prompted to upgrade to 2.0, I did.
You can check the version # by going to “Help”>“About Mozilla Firefox”, that will pop up a window with the version #.
Are you running any tab tweaking extensions?

Have you cleared the cache and deleted all your cookies? They’re in the “Tools”>“Options”>“Privacy” tab.
HA!!! Thanks!!! I am in fact running the latest, greatest Firefox, with absolutely no custom tweaks. I checked my cookie cache and found webshots.com in there, deleted all cookies, tried opening a new tab into Webshots – AND IT WORKED.
We’ll see if it continues to work once I exit the site.
Of course, deleting all those cookies means I had to log back into the Dope to post this response, and will have to log back into every other site I keep myself cookied on, but it’s a small price to pay to have (I fervently hope) overcome this annoyance. I really hate having to use IE instead of Firefox.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Aha! I just shut the tab with Webshots open, then clicked my bookmark to open in new tab, and there it was.
Oh, yeh, another thing: I have Firefox set for automatic updates, so perhaps I got one recently that did this.
Then it’s time to add an extension! CookieCuller lets you protect the cookies you don’t want to delete.
Here’s another one you should have, BBCodeXtra
If you like Ff now you’ll love it when you see what it can really do. I’m currently using 42 with no problems. The trick is you don’t add new extensions to your user profile until you’ve tested them in a disposable profile, this way conflicting extensions and bad ones can’t corrupt your “good” profile.
If ya want I can post or E-Mail you my extension list to give you an idea of what’s out there.

BTW 90% of the time when the board starts loading slowly for me clearing the cache fixes it.
CookieSafe Lite is more intuitive than Cookie Culler, IMO. Set it to “deny globally” and whitelist site you use as they make demands for enabling cookies (Permanent, Session, or Temporary). All the whitelist exceptions will be retained seperately even if you clear all cookies.
