Selling a cemetery plot

So – my sister and I recently determined the exact location of the cemetery plot our parents bought back in 1951. Some time after that, they decided that cremation was a better option, and at the appropriate time (after demise, that is) that’s what happened. However, Sis and I now don’t know how to rid ourselves, or the final estate, of this unwanted real estate. Someone at the Cemetery told us the procedural issues, but the first step is basically “Find someone who wants to buy it.”

Any suggestions on how to do that? Neither of us is associated with a church. It doesn’t seem like the kind of thing one just puts a want ad in the paper for; I mean it’s not like there are people out there looking for burial plots like they do for used cars or puppies or something. I found a couple of web sites that alleged to be for dealers in cemetery plots, but one had links that kind of went in circles without any real information, and the other looked to me like a way of scamming people out of a $75 “registration fee.”

Any and all suggestions are requested.

My local newspaper has anywhere from 10 to 20 listings for cemetary plots daily.
