Thanks to all who have earned the title on this 235th birthday of the US Marine Corps.
Semper Fi, Dad. Your service during WWII is remembered far beyond you will ever know.

Semper Fi, Dad. Your service during WWII is remembered far beyond you will ever know.
I was born on November 10th and when I enlisted and told the recruiting sergeant he remarked that he had five children and he and his wife had been trying unsuccessfully to have at least one of them born on November tenth.
For those unfamiliar with Marine customs, the tenth is a major holiday and very little work gets done as everyone is gearing up for the big parties to take place later that day. Even in boot camp we had a comparatively lavish noon meal. No parties afterward, though, and as I recall my DIs came in the next morning with vicious hangovers, and naturally took them out on us recruits.
Gentlemen–and ladies–raise your glasses to The Corps. Semper Fi!
To my brothers of A co, 1st Bn, 7th Marines, Vietnam '66 - '67, who never made it home.
Happy Birthday & Semper Fi!
