I did not see a competitive race in South Carolina coming and if you did, I doff my hat. What a bonus pickup that would be.
Fuck Haley Stevens. What a tool. We’re lucky AES won and not that MAGA apologist.
I didn’t read the link. What does she want him to apologize for? Winning the primary?
My guess is she actually wants him to lose so she can say “I told you so!” She’s done nothing since the primary. She won’t even say his name when she goes on news shows. Just a despicable person.
He needs to look up Kyrsten Sinema to see how well that position worked out.
She wants him to apologize for the advertisement that Cenk Uygur created, which Abdul had nothing to do with. If he apologizes for it, he’s implicitly claiming responsibility. I’m sure she’ll claim that if he doesn’t, he agrees with it. It’s a BS “gotcha” moment.
Frankly, I wouldn’t trust someone who pulls a stunt like that to be part of my campaign in the first place. Clearly her only motivation is spiteful sabotage.
I think he’s playing this the best way he can. Just brush her off and say there are real issues to deal with.
From the link:
Stevens hailed the fact that the two former rivals were coming together soon in a show of unity, but positioned that appearance as having conditions. Stevens said she expected El-Sayed to forcefully condemn an ad from RebellionPAC, led by The Young Turks founder Cenk Uygur. Initially created for Uygur’s unsuccessful 2024 run for the White House, the ad attempts to connect high prices on things like groceries to defense spending for Israel.
…
Stevens’ statement went on to say that the ad did not invent the argument Uygur was trying to make, and instead blamed it on comments El-Sayed “has made in his own words throughout the campaign: that Israel is the reason Michigan cannot afford schools, healthcare, and childcare.”
“The standard here is simple. If those words are wrong when a Political Action Committee supporting his campaign says them, then they are equally wrong when Abdul says them, and Abdul has said them from the start,” Stevens wrote. “I therefore expect him to apologize for those statements as well. Abdul promises to get money out of politics. He can begin by getting Israel out of his explanation for everything that Michigan cannot afford. And it is my hope and expectation that, out of the same respect for Michigan’s Black community, he will take down his own advertisement featuring white Christian nationalist Tucker Carlson, an insult to the congregation that will welcome us on Sunday.”
Wow, so she no longer supports abortion rights? Progressive taxation? Obamacare? LGBTQ rights?
Or has Abdul Sayed energized people for whom “being a Democrat” starts and ends with a mania over a minor defensive war fought halfway around the world that ended over a year ago, and Jewish banana thieves, to the exclusion of any other issue? Seems like it’s pretty obvious what the problem with this guy is.
If she really supported these things, she’d be doing everything she can to help AES get elected. It’s very clear she doesn’t.
Criticizing Israel (it’s okay to do this, by the way!) has been a small part of his campaign. The vast majority of his time campaigning has been spent talking about prices, corruption, the economy, jobs, the stupid war in Iran, ICE crimes, etc.
People get into politics for lots of reasons, and when they lose they can go off the rails. Right now Katie Porter, who sold herself as the Californian Liz Warren, is fighting the billionaire tax in CA, because her brand fell apart after losing primaries for senate and then governor.
A lot of dems don’t support progressive ideas out of the goodness of their heart, it’s just a job, and once the incentive structure to keep them towing the party line dissolves, they can choose to attack the people who beat them, or grift, or lobby (look at how former Sanders ally Tulsi Gabbard turned out.)
If you’re talking about Prop 40, Xavier Beccera is against that tax too, as are pretty much all Democrats. It’s a terrible idea.
I hate to sorta agree here. of all the major issues- the economy, future of democracy, healthcare, education, immigration, crime, AI, trump, the environment, etc this issue should be very minor in American Politics.
IMHO, Americans should not criticize Israel, but concentrate on Netanyahu instead. But anyway, it should be a very minor American issue. And in reality- it is- most Americans do not care.

Most American voters appear unconcerned with Israeli politics and tuned out of a political campaign viewed in Israel as among the most important in the country’s history, according to exclusive data gathered by The POLITICO Poll in advance of Israel’s Oct. 27 election.
The poll is a sharp reality check on hopes that the Israeli election could help reset U.S.-Israel relations and ease tensions related to Gaza and the war in Iran.
But back to the election-
The polls are looking increasingly good for Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed in the Nov. 3 race for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat and his chances of becoming the first Muslim member of that chamber.
Early Thursday, Oct. 29, CNN released a survey of Michigan voters showing El-Sayed, the former Wayne County and Detroit health director from Ann Arbor, leading Republican former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers of White Lake 49%-42%, with the rest undecided or backing a third-party candidate.
Generally speaking the Michigan primary has highlighted the worst people in Democratic politics. People on the left who say “AIPAC” as their equivalent of George Soros, and doofie centrists who make up a fictitious group of persuadable voters that are offended that a Muslim exists.
Aside:
I’ve done that. Nanometers, actually. It’s a fun experiment, based on diffraction of light.
Obama is campaigning in Michigan for Sayed. Kamala Harris is campaigning in Michigan for Sayed. James Clyburn is campaigning in Michigan for Sayed specifically to try to undo his campaign’s total alienation of Black voters. At the urging of Chuck Schumer, Democratic donors have put more money into the Sayed campaign than has ever been spent on any Senate race in history. Sayed’s primary opponent, whom he spent months lambasting as an “AIPAC puppet,” sucked it up and has endorsed him over and over again, and has simply requested in advance of her next stump speech for Sayed that he firmly denounce the “Jews stole my bananas” ad instead of lying and saying his campaign has no affiliation with the Young Turks group.
Somehow, the conclusion from all of the above is that the “Democratic establishment” is “sabotaging” his campaign - because DSA people live in a universe that runs on conspiracy theories and the inevitability of victimization by (((them))), and no evidence about anyone’s actual behavior in reality will ever change that mindset. If Sayed wins, it will just be six years of hearing about how the banana thieves are out to get him, but this time from the Senate floor.
Haley apparently has a problem with men of color running for office. In addition to Sayed, here’s:
And here’s
Well, that’s the brand. It’s like how Trump continued to run on “Drain the Swamp” when he was the incumbent - playing the underdog victim who’s the only rebel plucky enough to stand up to the Evil Empire that is the big scary Establishment is the whole Populist brand.
Her fiance thinks she may pull her support for Abdul if he doesn’t meet her demands by Sunday.
Meanwhile, Abdul’s over here
Another Fetterman. At least she’ll be out of Washington soon.
No it won’t. I’ve heard him speak many times. No bananas.
Well we all know the reason for that.
