I think it’s nakedly self-serving. None of them are crazy enough to vote against that, especially in an election year.

That’s the point: a lot of folks are worried that we’ve gotten to the point where it’s politically advantageous for Republicans to lick Trump’s boots. The less true that is, the more likely some kind of change is.
