Is it true, by the way, as a friend of mine claims, that hipsters have by now co-opted not just trilbys, fedoras and New Eras but in fact… EVERY kind of hat in the known universe ?
So that there now is NO type of hat a man could wear without having to assume that passersby will take him for a hipster?
I am pretty sure that you could get away with wearing a Tam o’ Shanter without being accused of hipsterism (at least by any rational observer).

If the rest of your clothing makes you look like a douchebag then yes you’re going to be mistaken for a hipster.
If a man in his forties (or older) is wearing a fedora with a suit do you really think he’s a hipster?

Here’s a man in his 40’s whose wearing a fedora, who is a douchebag and yet is not a hipster.
(also, firefox’s spell check should really recognize the word douchebag, its like the third most frequently used word on the internet)

When everyone is hipsters, no one will be.
Yes, a trilby is a narrow-brimmed fedora. A porkpie, unlike fedoras and trilbys, has a crown with a circular cross-section.
Thanks to everyone for the explanations. I feel informed.
I’d say I feel hipper, but that’s just not possible.
Thank you. someone had to do it.

Do you get more drunk if you drink ironically?
But are we certain that’s what Orin said? It could have been something similar and simply misunderstood because he hadn’t spit out the oil executives pecker.
